The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular session
at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7':30 P.M. April 22, 1940

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Mr. R.S.Miller representing Florida National Exhibits next appeared and requested a.

contribution towards financing its activities at the World's Fair in New York during the
coming season, advising that if there are no funds available in the present budget, a
promise to include it in next year's budget will be sufficient.
Action deferred.
Mr. M R. Strickland next appeared on behalf of the First Methodist Church and outlined
the program for the Annual State Methodist Conference to be held in Sanford on June 12th,
thru 17th., stating that 627 delegates have been invited to attend this conference and
requested some financial assistance from the City toward defraying the expenses for their
meals and lodging while in Sanford.
Matter taken under advisement.
Allan Stewart, Manager of the Municipal Golf Course next requested a leave of absence
from May 20th thru Sept. 20, 1940, advising that he had arranged for Raymond Lundquist to
manage the golf course during his absence, provided it meets with the approval of the
City Commission.
Thereupon, on motion duly adopted, the Commission granted Mr. Stewart this leave of
absence, and approved the arrangements made by him of employing Raymond Lundquist to
manage the golf course during his absence.
Mattee Bolin next appeared and requested that the City install a water main on Clark
Avenue from Thirteenth St. south to Fourteenth St, so as to provide water service for her
residence.
Thereupon, the Clerk was instructed to make a survey of the residents in this section
and find out if there will be a sufficient number of water consumers to warrant the
expense of installing a water main at this location.
Application next received from S.D.A.Church for permit to erect a frame church building
Size 62, X 30' on Lot 1 Block 9 Tier 7, located on the Southwest corner of Elm Avenue
and Seventh Street, and on motion duly carried, same was granted.
On motion duly adopted Fire Chief Cleveland was next authorized to attend the
State Firemen's Association to be held at Vest Paim Beach on May 122 13, and 14,
the expense incurred to be borne by the City.
On motion of Commissioner Higgins, seconded by Commissioner Rollins and carried,
the Commission next authorized the purchase of fifteen tons of asphalt filler for
the WPA paving project at a cost of $22.50 per ton.
The Clerk was next instructed to notify the Florida Motor Lines Inc. that in the
future all buses must drive in off the street at their bus station in Sanford
for the unloading and loading of passengers
The following applications for adjustment of taxes for the year 1933 and prior, and
special assessments were next received, and on motion duly carried, same were authorized
and approved:
