The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Regular Session
at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7 :30 o'Clock P.M. May 23, 1938.
Present: Commissioner W.R. Dupree, Acting,Mayor.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Commission and minutes of the Municipal
Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board of May 9th. and minutes of Special Called meeting
of May 16th. 1938 read and approved.
Petition of Mrs J.W.Shadoin and other merchants on Sanford Avenue to require
a tax on rummage sales or cease having these sales was read. After some discussion
City Attorrlr Wilson was instructed to contact other municipalities to ascertain if
license is required in other cities.
Mr. Rea Packard appeared before the Commission in behalf of the local Baseball
Association asking for a donation of $1000.00 to assist in the operating expense
of the baseball team. No action taken.
Report of S.M. RiChard that he can caulk and paint the inside of water tank
and that the cost of material and equipment to do this work will not exceed $40.00
was presented, and the purchase of this material and equipment authorized.
Mr. Albert Hall requested permit to complete construction of shop which
was started several years ago at the southwest corner of Eleventh St. and Sanford Ave.
Permit not granted until investigation can be made.
Matter of defraying hospital expenses in the case of Thomas Robinson an
employee of the City who was injured irr an automobile accident on the night of May
21st. was brought to the attention of the Commission, but due to the fact that he
was not injured while on duty, hospital expense was not authorized.
Matter of closing alley running north and south through Block 15 Tier 7 was
discussed and City Attorney Fred Wilson instructed to draw up ordinance closing
alley, also allowing the City ingress and egress to sewer line now laid through this
alley.
Quotation on DeLeon Springs shell from Transit Mix Concrete Inc. was read.
No action taken.
Letter from Mrs. Hortense Roumillat, president Fort Mellon Chapter, Sons
and Daughters of the Territory of Florida thanking the Commission for the
selection of the name " Fort Mellon " for the new City Park was read.
Report of third milk analysis from.11 dairies, all tests showing milk well
within the requirements for Grade "A" milk was presented and ordered filed.
There being no further business the meeting then adjourned to immediately
reconvene as a Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board.
