The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in adjourned Regular Session
at the City Hall in Sanford Florida, at 2 :30 p M, April 27, 1929•

Commissioner S 0 Chase introduced Ordinance No. 162, entitled:
" An Ordinance of the City of Sanford, Florida requiring all persons, firms and cor-
porations to deposit daily in tightly closed receptacles all refuse fruit and vegetables in and
about their homes andplaees of business, including fruit dropped from trees, and to keep such
refuse fruit and vegetables, including fruit dropped from trees, enelosed'in such tightly
closed receptacles until removed by the Sanitary Department of the City of Sanford, and to
require all such persons, firms and corporations to allow daily access to such receptacles by
the Sanitary Department of Said City for the purpose of removing and destroying such refuse
fruit and vegetables, and to provide a penalty for the violation of the provisions hereof."
and same was placed on its first reading.

Thereupon Commissioner Chase moved that the rules be waived and said ordinance be
placed on its second reading and final passage.
Thereupon the motion recurred upon the question of the waivure of the rules.
The roll was called and those voting in favor of the waivure of the rules were:

Thereupon said ordinance No. 162 was read in .full and placed upon its final passage
and adoption, those voting for its adoption being:

Thereupon the Chairman announced that the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Flor
by its unanimous vote had passed and adopted ordinance No. 162 entitled:
" An Ordinance of the City of Sanford, Florida, requiring all persons, firms and cor-
porations to deposit daily in tightly closed receptacles all refuse fruit and vegetables in
and about their homes and places of business, including fruit dropped from trees and to keep
such refuse fruit and vegetables, including fruit dropped from trees, enclosed in ttgh 'tightly
closed receptacles until removed by the Sanitary Department of the City of Sanford, and to re-
quire all such persons,- firms and corporations to allow daily access to such receptacles by the
Sanitary Department of Said City for the purpose of removing and destroying such refuse fruit
and vegetables, and to provide a penalty for the violation of the provisions hereof."
Commissioner Newman next introduced Ordinance No.,163, entitled:
" An Ordinance of the City of Sanford, Florida, making it unlawful to purchase or sell,
at wholesale or retail, or in any other manner, any citrus fruit in the City of Sanford,.Florida
Except such citrus fruit as has been inspected and approved, with oertificate,attaehed, by
the State Plant Board and is contained in Regular containers, and to provide for the seizure

Thereupon the Chairman announced that the City Commission of the City of Sanford
Florida, by its unanimous vote , had passed and adopted Ordinance No. 163, entitled:
If An Ordinance of the City of Sanford, Florida, making it unlawful to purchase or
sell, at wholesale or retail, or in any other manner any citrus fruit in the City of Sanford
Florida, except such citrus fruit as has been inspected and approved, with certificate
attached, by the State Plant Board and is contained in Regular Containers, and to pro-
vide for the seizure and destruction of any citrus fruit purchased or sold contrary to the
provisions of this ordinance, and to provide a penalty for the violation of the provisions
of this ordinance.0
On motion of Commissioner Newman, seconded by Commissioner Gray, and unanimously
adopted, it was ordered that Ordinances No 162 and 163 heretofore passed, be published
one time in the Sanford Herald.
The Chairman next appointed Commissioners Chase, Miller and Speer to conifer with the
Board of County Commissioners of Seminole County, with respect to a quarantine against
Citrus fruits being brought into Seminole County.
On motion duly adopted, the Sanitary Department was instructed to confiscate all
citrus fruits now on sale in any store in the corporate limits of the City of Sanford, Flort
the dealer to be re- imbursed by the City for the fruit confiscated at invoice prices, said
fruit to be then taken to the City incinerator and destroyed.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned, to meet again on May 9th at
2 O'Clock P M 1929•
