CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, October 7 at 2 P M 19 29
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in adjourned session at
the City Hall in Sanford, Florida at Two O'Clock P M October 7, 1929-
Present: Commissioner, Frank L Miller

* Vivian A Speer
City Attorney, Fred R Wilson
City Clerk, F S Lamsoa
Absent: Commissioner , Nelson Gray

Commissioner Speer moved that in the absence of Mayor Gray, Commissioner Miller
be appointed Chairman of the meeting.
Seconded by Commissioner Newman and so ordered.
The Clerk next presented and read the resignation of Nelson Gray as Mayor- Commissione
of the City of Sanford, Florida, said Resignation being in words and figures as follows:
*October 3, 1929
To The Commission of the City of Sanford
Sanford, Florida.
Gentlemen:
I tender this my resignation as Mayor and Commission er of the City of Sanford
to take effect on this date.
I regret that I cannot be with you in the final settlement of the City's indebted-
ness, but my private interests which I have neglected for the past nine months require my
immediate attention.
Yours very truly,
Nelson Gray.
Mayor.
Thereupon, Commissioner Newman moved that the resignation be accepted.
Seconded by Commissioner Speer and so ordered by the unanimous vote of the Commissi
Commissioner Speer neat offered the following Resolution, which was seconded by
Commissioner Newman and unanimously adopted:
"WHEREAS, Mr Nelson Gray, after being duly elected, was inducted into the office of
City Commissioner on the 8th day of January , 1929, and was on the same day elected by the
Commission as Mayor of the City of Sanford, Florida, and,
WHEREAS, Mr Gray, due to the pressure of his personal affairs, has" announced his in-
ability to further serve the people of the City of Sanford, as Commissioner, and has tender
his resignation as such, and
WHEREAS, the City Commissioners of the City of Sanford are not unmindful of the pub-
lie service rendered by Mr Gray and feel grateful to him for his efforts in behalf of the
City while serving on the City Commission, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, feel that the citizens
of Sanford recognize the faithful services rendered by Mr. Gray,
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved, by the City Commission of the City of Sanford ,
Florida, that we commend Mr Gray for his faithful service to the citizenship of Sanford in hii
service upon the City Commission. That we extend to Mr Gray a vote of thanks for his ser-
vices and express our regret at losing him as one of the members of this Board."I
The next order of business was the election of a.-:Mayor to serve until the organiza-
tion of the new Commission in January 1930.
Thereupon, Commissioner Newman nominated Commissioner Speer as Mayor of the City

of Sanford, Florida.
Seconded by Commissioner Miller.
There being no other nominations and upon the roll being called, Commissioner
Speer was unanimously elected Mayor of the City of Sanford, Florida.
The Clerk was next instructed to draw check in favor of former Commissioner Gray
for $64.00 , representing balance due him on salary as City Commissioner of the City of Sanf of
Florida.
The meeting then adjourned.
