HomeMy WebLinkAbout0903291 1 I� D MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA._ S(vt 3 at 2:730 P K 19-?3- The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida , met in adjourned session at the City Hall in Sanford Florida, at 2:30 P M. September 3, 1929. Present: Commissioner Nelson Gray, Mayor N Frank L Miller " R A Newman " Vilian A Speer. City Attorney, Fred R Wilson, City Clerk, F S Lamson Absent: Commissioner S 0 Chase. Dq Mr G E Lavigne, member of the Council of the Town of Longwood, Florida, appeared before the Commission with reference to time warrant for $150.00 issued by the Town of Longwood in favor of the City of Sanford, and due August 2, 1929, said time warrant having been given as part payment of Ford Chemical Wagon purchased from the City of Sanford in August of 1928. Mr LaVigne stated that due to the condition of the Chemical Wagon at the time it was purchased, that it had taken considerable of the amount allotted for its purchase to put in in condition to be used, and therefore asked that an allowahce of #50.00 be allowed covering these repairs, and that the City of Sanford accept $100.00 in full payment of the balance owed. After considerable discussion, and it being the opinion of the Commission that the request of Mr LaVigne was a reasonable one, Commissioner Newman moved that the City accept $100.00 in full payment of the balance of the aocount as evidenced by the time warrant. Seconded by Commissioner Miller and adopted by the following vote: Commissioner Gray Aye a Miller Aye a Newman Aye Speer Aye The next matter for consideration was the appointment of a Board of Bond Trustees, as re- quired by amendment to the City Charter approved by the election of September 18, 1928, and confirmed by Act of the 1929 Florida Legislature. Thereupon, Commissioner Speer offered Resolution No. 385 which was seconded by Commissioner!i Gray and adopted by the following vote: Commissioner Gray Aye Miller Aye Newman Aye a Speer Aye Said Resolution being in words and figures as follows: RESOLUTION APPOINTING BOARD OF BOND TRUSTEES FOR THE CITY OF SANFORD FLORID&. WHEREAS, By Section 57 of the Charter of the City of Sanford, Florida, as amended at an election held in said City on the 18th day of September , 1928, which said election and section as amended were ratified by the Legislature of the State of Florida at its session of 1929 the City Commission of said City of Sanford is required to appoint a Board of Bond Trustees to consist of three members whose term of office shall be at the pleasure of the Commission, which said bond trustees shall constitute the trustees of the sinking fund of the City of Sanford, Florida, and shall succeed to all of the duties and powers and responsibilities im- posed by ordinance of the City of Sanford, Florida, or by any law on any board of bond trustees now existing: tl(j MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, September 3 19 NOW THEREFORE, Be it Resolved By the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, that FRANK L WOODRUFF , SR. , RALPH B WIGHT, and WALTER L COOPER JR., Be, and they are hereby appointed as the Board of Bond Trustees of the City of Sanford, whose term of of- fice shall be at the pleasure of the City Commission of said City, which said Board of Bond Trustees shall constitute the trustees of the sinking fund of said City of Sanford, Florida, and shall succeed to all of the duties and powers and responsibilities imposed by Ordinance of the City of Sanford, or by any law on any Board of Bond Trustees now existing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the present Board of Bond Trustees of said City of Sanford, Florida, do turn over all monies, securities, bonds and other property pertaining to their office to the said Board of Bond Trustees and the acceptance of such office and the said Board of Bond Trustees hereby appointed shall receipt the said City Commission for all monies, funds, and so forth , and shall cause the funds of the present Board of Bond Trustees to be audited and shall deposit such funds, bonds or securities in depositories for sinking funds, and shall perform such other duties as may be required of them in and by said Section of the Charter of the City of Sanford, Florida, as amended. ( Seal) `City olerk It appearing that it may be nomessary at some future date to employ associate counsel to assist City Attorney Wilson in connection with the inability of the City to pay interest and maturing principal payments on its alleged bonded indebtedness on July 1, 1929• Commissioner Gray moved that an appointment be made with Judge James F Glenn of Tampa, Florida, for Thursday, September 5th. and that the Commission interview Judge Glenn at that time with reference to this matter.
