HomeMy WebLinkAbout111829MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, -NCM- 9, 1929 at 10 A M- 19 The City Commission of the City of Sanford Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida at Ten 013-0 look A M., November 19, 1929. Present: Commissioner Vivian A Speer, Mayor " Frank L Miller " R A Newman City Clerk, F S Lamson Absent: Commissioner, S 0 Chase. Petition received from Seminole County Poultry Association, by Mr Alex. R Johnson, for an appropriation of $100.00 to help defray the costs of a Poultry Show to be held in Sanofrd in January 1930, the Board of County Commissioners to be asked to donate a like amount. Thereupon, in view of the fact that such a show is of an educational nature and would be a great benefit to the people of this commimity as well as bring many people from out- side of Sanford to attend the show, Commissioner Newman moved that an appropriation of $100.00 be made from the Publicity Fund to help defray the costs, said appropriation, however to be contingent upon a like amount being donated by the Board of County Commission Seconded by Commissioner Miller and unanimously carried. Commissioner Newman next moved that the Clerk be instructed to deposit for collection interest coupons due November 1, 1929 on the Thirty -two City of Homestead Bonds, and the interest coupons due August 1, 1929 on the five County of Sarasota Bonds held by the City of Sanford, Florida as security for City of Seaford deposits in the First National Bank of Sanford. Seconded by Commissioner Miller and so ordered. The Commission next conferred with Mr A F Rawlings, Receiver for the First National Bank of Sanford, with respect to the matter of filing proofs of-, claim for City of Sanford posits in the First National Bank of Sanford at the time of closing. Commissioner Newman then moved that the City file proofs of claim for the full amount its deposits in the First National Bank, the f ollm ing statement to be inserted: "No Set -offs except as shall be determined by the Courts." Seconded by Commissioner Speer and adopted by the following vote: Commissioner Speer, " Miller " Newman Aye Aye Aye On recommendation of Mrs Helen T Morse, Supervisor, Seminole County Welfare Board, Commissioner Newman moved that the sentence of Charlie Owens, now serving time on the City Streets , be suspended in order that he can take care of his wif a and children, who would otherwise have to be care for by the Welfare Board. Seconded by Commissioner Speer and unanimously carried. On motion of Commissioner Miller, seconded by Commissioner Newman and unanimously carried, balance of sentence and fine of W W Stapler was ordered suspended. The meeting then adjourned.
