The City Commission `lqf the City of Sanford, Florida. met in adjourned session
at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida at Two Of Clock P M August 20, 1929•
Present: Commissioner Nelson Gray, Mayor

The First matter to come before the Commission was a consideration of the 1929
Preliminary Real Estate Tax Roll valuations.
After a thorough discussion and comparison of comparative schedules prepared fp
this purpose, and in line with investigations heretofore made with respect to real estate
valuations in the City of Sanford, it was decided that the valuations as placed on the 1925
real estate roll are boom valuations and should-be reduced for 1929 commensurate with the
actual values of the property.
Thereupon, in line with the above findings, commissioner Newman moved that
estate valuations for 1829 be reduced 33 1/3 per cent on the 1925 valuations, any improve—
meats made it :kilo[ 1925 to be added after the above reduction is made, and that the millage
1929 be set at Eighteen mills.
Seconded by Commissioner Miller and adopted by the following vote:

The Clerk m&s also instructed that an additional 50 per cent should be
from valuations on certain property on the outskirts of the City included in petition for
exclusion received by the City Commission on March 11th, but not acted upon until March 15th
at which time instructions were issued that the valuations should be reduced so as to be in
with benefits received by this property from the City.
On motion duly adopted , the Clerk was instructed to place the 1929 Personal
Tax valuationq of the Forrest Lake Hotel at $4-0,000.00
On motion duly adopted, the Clerk was instructed to renew the fleet insurance
on automotive equipment owned by the City , for the year ending September 21, 1930, with
the Colclough Realty Company, Agent for the London Guarantee and Accident Company, Ltd.
The Neat matter for consideration was that of property insurance for the three)
years commencing October 1, 1929, at which date the present insurance expires.
After considerable discussion it was decided that fire insurance should be
taken out on the following City properties for the amounts listed:,
Country Club Building
Country Club, 2 story dwelling
Country Club , 1 story dwelling
City Pumping Plant building
Country Pumping Plant building
Incinerator Duelling
City Library '
Equipment & Books in Library
Fernald Laughton Hospital
Equipment in Hospital
Nurse s home
Old Ci ty' 'Hall
New City Hall
New City Jail
Grand St hletic Field

Thereupon, the Clerk was instructed to prepare schedules showing rates and
premiums for the above insurance for the three year period from October 1, 1929 to October 1
1932, and submit to the Commission for approval.
The Clerk was also instructed to divide this business as equally as possible
between the following Insurance Agents in the City of Sanford, Florida:

H C DuBose
A P Connelly & Sons.
Maxwell Stewart
F L Woodruff
DL Thrasher
The meeting then adjourned to meet again at Two O'Clock P M August 23rd. 1929,
