N a a City Attorney, City Clerk Frank L Miller A A Newman Vivian A Speer Fred A Wilson F S Lamson Absent: Commissioner, S 0 Chase. 0 The purpose of the meeting was a further consideration of the 1929 -1930 tentative budget heretofore submitted and upon which action had been postponed. Thereupon the Commission proceeded to examine the tentative budget item by item, assisted by comparative statements prepared by the Clerk showing previous year's expenditures In each department as well as estimated total expenditures for the present fiscal year based on the expenditures of the first ten months. After a thorough consideration of the estimated expenditures and revenues, the Clerk was instructed to prepare the budget, with such changes as were deemed necessary by the -.Commission., in proper form for approval and adoption . This budget was set up for the purpose alleged of covering the expenses of the City for the next fiscal year. No provision for the bonded - indebtedness was considered at this time as the City was unable to meet its financial obli- gations in July and the bond brokers were promptly notified and asked to submit a plan that in their opinion would be fair to them and the City. Not hearing from them the Commission decided to await the adjustment of the debt before making the tax levy. The Clerk next presented telegram from the President of the Nye Odorless Cre- matory Company of Macon, Georgia, agreeing to permit the City to execute new notes of smaller denominations in place of note-"for $9,000.00 due August lst, 1929, it having been necessary tol ask for this in view of lack of funds on account of the closing of the First National Bank. Thereupon the Clerk was instructed to request that four notes of $2,000.00 each be executed in place of the $9,000.00 note, one to fall due on or before August lst, of each year commencing 1930 and ending in 1933, with interest at the rate of Six Per cent per annum, said notes to be dated August 1, 1929. After a consideration of various ways to obtain water for this purpose, and it being the opinion that the most satisfactory and.eoonomical method would be to lay a pipe from the nearest water main to connect with the water system at the cemetery, the Clerk was instruc to obtain prices from various jobbers for the required amount of both three and four inch ga vanized pipe, and report at the next meeting. A representative of the Barker Poster Advertising Company appeared with a request that the present Ordinance regulating the construction of signboards in the City Limits be modified to allow cheaper construction outside the Fire Limits. Commissioner Newman made the motion, which was duly seconded and unanimously ed, that the matter be taken under consideration. The Meeting then-adjourned to meet at Two O'Clook P M ATTEST: ?rc t 20th.
