Woodmen of The World Lodge 625 116 South Park Avenue Continuation of discussion from January 15 meeting. Commission members are requested to bring to the meeting any available old photographs of this building. IV. Discussion of contracting procedures for Historic Preservation Consultant. V. Varia. M I N U T E S Historic Preservation Board Meeting of February 12, 1987 4:30 P.M. Members Present: Shirley Moak Lon Howell Cal Conklin Jerry Gross John Puder Duke Adamson Vivienne Sweeney Bill Gielow Ed Blacksheare Jerry Mills Bill Simmons - Staff Liaison Members Absent: Frank Whigham The Chairman called the meeting to order at 4:30 P.M. Mr. Gross made presentation requesting to make changes on the building located at 101 West First Street. Mr. Gross stated that they would like to remove the Travel Agency sign, add storefront to the recessed area in front, would like to remove all miscella- neous material fron exterior of walls paint the building and add canopies. Canopies to be on 1st story only. Mr. Gross stated that the window could not be put back in at the corner, all marble had been taken off the building, and the spiral staircase will remain. Also, Mr. Gross stated that the windows on the second floor are wood frame with aluminum sashes. The body of the building to be painted Montecella Rose; Sashes, Queen Anne Pink; and trim to be Summerville Red. Mr.. Howell made motion to approve. Mr. Puder seconded. No further discussion. All in favor. Motion carried. Regarding the second item on the agenda, Woodmen of The World, 116 South Park Avenue, the Chairman stated that he would get the pho- tograph from the Children's Museum, have it reproduced for the Board and send a copy to Woodmen of The World. He will recommend that they put the balcony and canopy back on the second floor and leave the bottom floor as is. At this point there was considerable discussion relative to contracting procedures for a surveying consultant. Mr. Simmons stated that he had received a list of recommended consultants from Fred Gaskey of the Department of State. Mr. Simmons also stated that he wasn't sure whether or not we have a whole lot more there than we can get done for $10,000. He has concern about contracting for the identification all around the periphery and then also in the same contract call for the preparation of all forms on the houses; this may be taken care of during negotiation fee. Mr. Simmons suggested that for the area Mr. Adamson had cross - hatched, identify the houses as being over 50 years old for future documentation under a Phase II. Mr. Simmons stated that the proposals would be reviewed and short - listed with parameters set on selection. Mr. Simmons suggested that the selection panel for the consultant surveyors consist of himself and two Board mem- bers. Chairman Mills suggested that the Board members meet at Mr. Gross' building at 4:15 on March 12th before the next Board meeting to review placques. Ms. Gielow stated that Don Vincent would reproduce any photographs that the Board could come up with. Ms. Gielow to find out approximately how much Mr. Vincent will charge for each pho- tograph.
