building located at 101 West First Street. Mr. Gross stated that
they would like to remove the Travel Agency sign, add storefront
to the recessed area in front, would like to remove all miscella-
neous material fron exterior of walls paint the building and add
canopies. Canopies to be on 1st story only. Mr. Gross stated
that the window could not be put back in at the corner, all
marble had been taken off the building, and the spiral staircase
will remain. Also, Mr. Gross stated that the windows on the
second floor are wood frame with aluminum sashes. The body of
the building to be painted Montecella Rose; Sashes, Queen Anne
Pink; and trim to be Summerville Red.
Mr.. Howell made motion to approve.
Mr. Puder seconded.
No further discussion.
All in favor.
Motion carried.
Regarding the second item on the agenda, Woodmen of The World, 116
South Park Avenue, the Chairman stated that he would get the pho-
tograph from the Children's Museum, have it reproduced for the
Board and send a copy to Woodmen of The World. He will recommend
that they put the balcony and canopy back on the second floor and
leave the bottom floor as is.
At this point there was considerable discussion relative to
contracting procedures for a surveying consultant. Mr. Simmons
stated that he had received a list of recommended consultants from
Fred Gaskey of the Department of State. Mr. Simmons also stated
that he wasn't sure whether or not we have a whole lot more there
than we can get done for $10,000. He has concern about
contracting for the identification all around the periphery and
then also in the same contract call for the preparation of all
forms on the houses; this may be taken care of during negotiation
fee. Mr. Simmons suggested that for the area Mr. Adamson had
cross - hatched, identify the houses as being over 50 years old for
future documentation under a Phase II. Mr. Simmons stated that
the proposals would be reviewed and short - listed with parameters
set on selection. Mr. Simmons suggested that the selection panel
for the consultant surveyors consist of himself and two Board mem-
bers.
