Bi shop , H.James Gut " W.C .Hill M.J.Lodge City Attorney Fred R.Wllson City Clerk R.N.Sayer Chief of Police R.G.Williams Meeting called to order by the Chairman. of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular at ?:30 o'clock P.M. August 9,1943. Minutes of adjourned meeting of June 14, regular meeting of June 28, and adjourned meeting of July 5, 1943, next read and approved. Current invoices and payrolls for the month of July 1943, properly audited and vouchered as evidenced by voucher Nos. 5912 thru 599?, submitted, examined approved and payment authorized. Monthly reports of Streets, Sanitation, Health, Water, Police, Fire, Library and Golf Department s for the month of July 1943, submitted and examined. Financial statement and statement of revenues and expenditures during the month Of July 1943, submitted and examined. Bank statements in all accounts for the month of July 1943, submitted and examined. Mrs. Volie Williams and Mrs Ruth Scott next appeared on behalf of the Seminole County Tuberculosis Association and requested the Commission to appropriate funds in the 1943-44 City budget for the purpose of assisting the said association in maintain- properly reconciled Mr. G.W.Spencer, Attorney, next presented a petition signed by 35 resi- dents living within the vicinity of Locust Avenue and Sixth Street, protesting against the City Commission establishing the proposed recreation center for colored citizens at this location, and same was ordered filed for further consideration. Request next received from O.R.Smith for the City to install a street light at the intersection of Sixth Street and Laurel Avenue. Thereupon after considerable discussion, and on motion duly carried, the Clerk was instructed to recuest the Florida Power & Light Company to transfer the Street Light from intersection of Holly Avenue and Commercial Street to the inter- section of Sixth Street and Laurel Avenue. On motion duly adopted the Clerk was next authorized to request the Florida Power & Light Company to have the 1OO CP midnight burning whiteway light located on West Side of Park Avenue between Second and Third Streets, changed over to the all-night burning circuit. On motion of Commissioner Bishop, seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried, the Commission next authorized the purchase from V.J.Van Ingen & Company, Inc.,Miami, lng a home for the incurable tubercular cases care of themselves or being isolated. Reouest approved,provided he files proper application showing that he is entitled to War ~eteran's exemption. City Attorney Wilson next reported on settlement of claim, for damages of Mrs Mary Bennett against the City for injuries sustained from alleged sidewalk accident on the east side of Magnolia Avenue between Seventh Street and Eighth Street, on date of January 10,1943, advising that she will release the City of Sanford of this claim for the sum of $200.00 Thereupon , after careful consideration and on motion duly carried, the Clerk was authorized to pay Mrs Bennett the sum of $200.00 upon her signing release to the City of all claims and damages resulting from said alleged accident. On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorized the following sales of properties acquired by the City thru foreclosure of taxes and/or special assessment liens, subject to 1942 City texes and all unpaid State and County taxes.
