The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Session
at the City Hall in the City of Ssnford, Florida, at 2:00 o'clock P E July 24, 1948,
for the purpose of receiving a report from Ne. Edward Hiogins, Eanager of the Seminole
County Chamber of Commerce and Commissioner John Krider, relative to the purchase of the
~ayfair Inn by the National Exhibition Company.

Meeting called to order Oy the Chairman.
Mr. Hlggins reported on the application which he and Commissioner Krider pre-
sented to Reconstruction Finance Corporation in T~shington D.C. for the purpose of securing ~
self liquidating loan for the construction of dock and terminal facilities.
Nr Higglns advised that the application was received as submitted and bna% the
Reconstruction Finance Corporation requested two letters from Investment Bankers advising of
their refusal to make such a loan, approval of a firm of 5ond Attorneys and probably a Special
Legislative Act to approve the legality of the project.
Mr Hi~-lins next reported on bne conference which he and Commissioner Krlder had with
%he officials of the National Exnibitlon Company, owners of the New York Giants, relative to
that orge~lzation purchasing the ~ayfair Inn. ?,'r High, ins stated that the National Exhibition
Company would agree to purchase the ~ayfs, lr Inn, providing the City would refund the $%000.00
C~sh bond which they furnished for the protection of the personal property at the airport,
to waive the balance of the four years rent for the facilities at the airport and providing
the City would construct an additional ball park, exclusive of grand stand.
Thereupon after considerable discussion and realizing the advantages to the City
by having the National Exhibition Company own and operate the ~'ayfair Inn, Commissioner
Carraway moved that the City accept the proposition as presented to lie. Higgins by the
National Exhibition Company, that the City remit the $5,000.00 cash bond, waive the balance
of the ~ur years rental money amounting to ~14,0OO.00, and tnst the City construct a
b~seball field with enclosed fence and clubhouse, but no grandstand; provided the National
Exhl0ition Company purchase and operate the Mayfalr Inn l'or the duration or the lease at
the alrpor%.
