Oity Attorney, George A DeCottes

The Ohairman announced that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss with Mr
Ashcraft, Receiver of the defunct Seminole County Bank, and his Attorney Mr S R Dlghton,
the threat of Mr Ashcraft that if the City would not agree to pay certain so-called obligations
of the Oity of Sanford to the Seminole County Bank, said so-called obligations having been
taken to the Courts to decide as to their legality, also certain purported time warrants of
by the Seminole
the City of sanford held/ County Bank and used as a set-off against deposits of the City of
Sanford in the Seminole County Bank at the time of closing, he would immediately enter a
petition against the validation of the $425,OO0.00 bond issue authorized by the City 0ommis$iom
in Resolution No. 368, dated May l~, 1928, said bond issue to be offered for sale on June '
ll, 1928.
After considerable discussion, the City Commission decided that the stand heretofore
taken with respect to these so-called obligations of the City of Sanford was the only stand
that could be taken, that the threat on the part of Mr Ashcr~ft was an effort to force the
City Commission to assume obligations, the question of legality of which is now before the
courts, and the the demand of Mr Ashcraft could therefore not be acceded to.
Thereupon the meeting adjourned to meet June llth at 9 O'Clock A M 1928
