The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, me~ in regular session at the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 8:00 o'clock P. M. March 26, 1956.

Meeting called ~o order by the Chairman.
On motion of Commissioner Krider, seconded by Commissioner Gatchel and carried,
minutes of regular meeting of March 12, and special meeting of March 19, 1956, aDoroved.
On recommendation of the City Manager, and on motion of Commissioner Gatchel, seconded
by Commissioner Krider and carried, the Commission next authorized and directed that the price
on all lots in the Municipal Cemetery be increased from $25.00 to $50.00 per grave space.
Letter next submitted fr~n the Christian Scientist Church, of 800 E 2nd Street, re-
questing the City to cancel the taxes assessed for years 1928 thru 1955 against the following
described property adjacent to ~their Church, which they acquired fr. mm Sanford Hotel Realty
Corporation under date of November 9, 1927, but misplaced the deed before having it recorded.
Said deed of conveyance having been found under recen~ date and placed on record: Beg. 377
ft. East of Intersection of East line of Chs. pman Avenue and North line .of Union Avenue,.
run E 39 ft~, Nly 120 ft. W 39 ft., 81y. to point of beginning in Section 30, Township 19S.,
Range 31E
The Tax Assessor then advised that the Christian Scientist Church had been using this
property for church purposes ever since acquiring it, but could not produce evidence ef owner-
ship for tax exemption, due to the deed being misplaced and not recorded.
Thereupon after discussion, and in view of the tax exempt ion provision for churches
under the State Law, Commlsslaer Gatchel moved that the City cancel its taxes for years 1928
thru 1955 against the aforesaid property owned by the Christian Scientist Church since
i November 9, 1927. Seconded by Commissioner Krider and carried.
There being no further business Cemmissioner Krider ~hen moved that the meeting adjourn
until 8:00 o'clock ~. M. March 29, 1956. Seconded by Commissioner Gatchel and carried.
