City Commission, Sanford, Florida, Special Meeting. of September19. 19,__ 1960
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in SPecial Session. at the
City Hall &n the City of Sanford, Florida at 8~O0 o'clock P. M. on September 19, 1960, to re-
ceive the Tax Assessment Roll for 1960, as prepared by the Tax Assessor, and to set as a Tax
Equalization Board.

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
The Commission then proceeded to sittas a Tax Equalization Board to receive any
complaints or objections on the 1960 Tax Roll, as prepared by the Tax Assessor and submitted
at this time.
Thereupon the following complaints were presented, and action taken by the Board
as follows:
Mrs. Ald~e Andes, 1500 French Avenue, appeared and requested in-
formation pertaining to interest on a 1959 Tax Certificate and
was referred to the Tax Collector.
Clifford McKibbin, member.of the Board of Deacons of the Presby-
terian Church, next appeared and stated that his church had pur-
chased the property described as LOT 17, GROVE MANOR, to be used
as a Manse, and requested an adjustment on the valuation for the
1960 Taxes.
After consideration, Commissioner Baker moved to place an assessed
value of $5,000.00 on the aforesaid property. Seconded by Com-
missioner Wilson and carried.
Hattie Weaver, 1508 W Fifteenth Street~ appeared and submitted a
protest against the assessed value of ~2,180.00 placed on LOT 18
BOYKIN PLACE.
After comparison with similar properties similarly located, it was felt that the
assessment was well in line, and on motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Baker
no change was made by the Board.
Protest submitted from Allied Chemical Corporation, against the
assessed value of $120,620.00 placed on their Bulk Plant located on
leased land on North Myrtle Avenue, claiming a value of $51,000.00.
Protest sumbitted from American 'Zelephone & Telegraph Company,
against assessed value of $6,920.00, placed on their leased equip-
ment, claiming a value of $5,280.00
Protest submitted Texaco, Inc., against am assessed value of
$i5,~i0.00 placed on their station located at 1450 French Ave.,
claiming a value of $9,690.00 for their station located at
li20 Sanford Avenue.
Protest submitted from Jack Kilby, 1209 W 20th St. against the
assessed value of $3,060.00 olaced on N ~160 ft of ~ 66 Ft of W.

Protest submitted from Mary L. Moye, 1515 W 16th St., ~agaiust
the assessed value of $3,060.00 placed on Lot 22, M M SMITHS
2nd Subdivision.
After comparison with the assessed valuations of similar stock of merchandise of
other ~erchants, and after a review of the assessed values placed on the furniture, fixtures
and equipment, and after comparison with similar properties similarly located, it was moved
by ~mm~ss~nervBrown, seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried, that the above protests
submitted by Allied Chemical Corporation, American e±epnone & Telegraph Company, Texaco,Inc.,
Jack Kilby, and Mary L. Moye, would remain at the assessed value as submitted by the Assessor.

There being no further objections registered and on motion of Commissioner Brown
seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried, the Commission then approved the 1960 Tax Toll
and adjourned as a Tax Equalization Board.
Recommendation next submitted by Municipal Judge E. A. Olliff, Jr., that sentence
against Jefferson Davis,Bullard, case docket #63897, be suspended, and on motion of Commissioner
Brown, seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried, same was approved.
After discussion, the City Attorney was authorized to prepare a Resolution commend-
ing the Navy for their cooperation rendered during and after hurricane "Donna~.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
