The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned regular
session at the City Hall in the .City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. on March
1970.
Present: Mayor-Commissioner Lee P. Moore
Commissioner James H. Crapps
Commissioner Thomas S. McDonald
Commissioner Gordon T. Meyer
Commissioner W. Vincent Roberts
City Attorney W. C. Hutchison, Jr.
City Manager W. E. ~owles
City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr.
Absent: Police Chief Ben E. Butler
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman-
Consideration was given to bids tabled at regular meeting of March 23, 1970, for
furnishing one tractor and mower for the Sanford Airport and the City Manager reported that
there appeared to be margin for misinterpretation of the specifications as written 8~d recom-
mended that all bids be rejected and the specifications clarified and readvertised.
After discussion, Commissioner Meyer moved to approve the recommendation of the City
Manager. Seconded by Commissioner McDonald and carried.
Consideration was next given to proposals tabled at regular meeting of March 23,
1970, to provide Community Antenna Television services in the City of Sanford, as follows:
1. Teleprompter Corporation
2. Seminole Cablevision
3. Sanford Comm~mity Television
Times-Mirror
officials and representatives of the bidders appeared to present their recommenda-
tions and comments, and after discussion the Commission tabled action until regular meeting of
April 13, 1970.
Commissioner McDonald next introduced Resolution No~<1069 and, after being read in
full, moved on its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Crapps and carried by the
unanimous vote of the Commission.
Said Resolution No. 1069 being in words and figures as follows:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, JOHNE. MATTHEWS, has with distinction served the people of the State of
Florida aS a member of the House of Representatives from 1956 to 1961, and as.a member of the
Florida Senate since 1962, during which time he-has received many accolates for his effective-
ness, culminating with his election as President of the Florida Senate in November 1968; and
WHEREAS, the people of Seminole County have invited Senator John E. Matthews and
his lovely wife, Gwendolyn, to the City of Sanford, in order that due recognition can be paid
for the outstanding contribution made by John E. Matthews to the people of the State of
Florida;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED .by the City Commission of the City of Sanford,
Florida, that this Resolution express the welcome of the City Commission for itself and the
people of the City of Sanford to John and Gwendolyn Matthews, with the hope that their stay
here is a pleasant one and that they continue in the future as they have in the past with
their frequent visits to the "Shad Capital of the World;"
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 30th day of March, A.D. 1970.
