The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special session at the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 12:00 o'clock Noon, December 9, 1970, for the
purpose of canvassing the Election Returns of the Municipal General Election, held on
December 8, 1970.

Police Chief Ben E. Butler
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
The Chairman called the meeting into session to canvass the returns of the Municipa
General Election held on December 8, 1970, for the purpose of electing one City Commissioner
for a term of office of three ~years, commencing on the first Tuesday after the first Monday
in January,21971.
Retruns made by the Clerk and Inspectors of the election were examined and the ab-
Sentee ballots opened and examined by the city Clerk and the City Commission and recorded,
as follows:

Commissioner Crapps then moved that the returns of the OI!erkand Inspectors of the
Municipal General Election, held December 8, 1970, be accepted and the absentee ballots be
approved as recorded.
The Commission noted that a majority of votes was not cast for any candidate for
the office of City Commissioner, Group I, and Commissioner Crapps moved to authorize the City
Clerk to proceed with necessary requirements for holding a run-off general election on Decem-
ber 22, 1970, as set forth in Section 164 of the City Charter, as amended. Seconded by
Commissioner Meyer and carried.
On motion of Commissioner Meyer, seconded by Commissioner Crapps and carried, the
Clerk and Inspectors working the 1970 Municipal General Election were authorized to be paid
at the rate of $1.60 per hour and, as many as necessary, authorized to serve for the run-off
general election.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
