The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 12:00 o'clock Noon, December 25, 1970, for the purpose of canvassing the Election Returns of the Municipal General Run-off Election, held on December 22, 1970. Present: Absent: Mayor-Commissioner Lee P. Moore Commissioner James H. Crapps Commissioner Thomas S. McDonald Commissioner Gordon T. Meyer Commissioner W. Vincent Roberts City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr. City Attorney W. C. Hutchison, Jr. City Manager W. E. Knowles Police Chief Ben E. Butler The Chairman called the meeting into session to canvass the returns of the Municipa General Run-off Election held December 22, 1970, for the purpose of electing one City Commis- sioner for a term of office of three years, commencing on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January, 1971. Returns made by the Clerk and Inspectors of the Election were examined and the absentee ballots opened and examined by the City Clerk and the City Commission and recorded, as follows: FOR CITY COMMISSIONER - GROUP I Julian L. Stenstrom Earl Higginbotham Void TOTAL VOTING TABULATION Machine Absentee Votes Votes Total 762 8 770 576 15 591 i 1 1,338 24 1,362 Commissioner McDonald then moved that the returns of the Clerk and Inspectors of the Municipal General Run-off Election, held on December 22, 1970, be accepted and the absentee ballots be approved as recorded. Seconded by Commissioner Meyer and carried. Thereupon, Julian L. Stenstrom, Group I, was certified as the duly elected City Commissioner of the City of Sanford, Florida, for a term of three years, commencing on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January, i971. On motion of Commissioner Meyer, seconded by Commissioner Roberts and carried, the Clerk and Inspectors working the 1970 Run-off General Election were authorized to be paid at the rate of $1.60 per hour.
