The City Commission of the ~City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Called Session
at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 12:00 o'clock Noon on June 23, 1971.
Present: Mayor-Commissioner Lee P. Moore
Commissioner James H. Crapps
Commissioner Gordon T. Meyer
Commissioner W. Vincent Roberts
Commissioner Julian L. Stenstrom
City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr.
· police Chief Ben E. Butler
Absent: City Attorney W. C. Hutchi. son, Jr.
City Manager W. E. Knowles
Commissioner Stenstrom moved to waive the requirement of twenty-four hours written
notice, and to call the meeting into special session. Seconded by Commissioner Meyer, and
carried by the unanimous vote of the Commission.
· After discussion of the Commission's visit to several sites, Commissioner Meyer
moved to consider two sites for the location of the prOposed Securit~ Complex, as follows:
(1) Block 6, Tier 8, Trafford's Map, Park at French Avenue and Fourth Street.
(2) Park.south of 25th Street between Marshall and Hartwell Avenues.
and further, to authorize Gutmann, Dragash and Matz, Inc., Architects, to proceed with the
preparation of a plot plan for the two sites for presentation to. g~e City.CommissioB~ Seconded
by Commissioner Roberts and carried.
J. S. Cleveland, Director of Aviation, presented a proposal from Charles A. Yeager
to lease for twenty years Buildings Nos. 310 and 297, with parking and ramp areas, at the
Sanford Airport, for the operation of the 'Sanford Aviation Academy, Inc., school for flight
training, including room and board.
After consideration, Commissioner Meyer moved that the proposal be accepted, condi-
tioned upon the drafting of a lease agreement acceptable to the City Commission. Seconded by
Commissioner Stenstrom and carried.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
