The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special called session
at the City Hall .in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 5:00 o'clock P. M. on October 27, 1971.
Present: Mayor-Commissioner Lee P. Moore
Commissioner James H. Crapps
Commissioner Gordon T. Meyer
Commissioner W. Vincent Roberts
Commissioner Julian L. Stenstrom
City Manager W. E. Knowles
City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr.
Absent: City Attorney W. C. Hutchison, Jr.
Police Chief Ben E. Butler
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
Commissioner Meyer moved to waive the requirement of the twenty-four hours written
notice and to call the meeting into special session. Seconded by Commissioner Roberts and
carried by the unanimous vote of the Commission.
Capt. Gib Blake and Dr. G. W. Edwards of the Seminole Zoological Society, appeared to
request further support from the City, in,addition to the three items approved at regular
meeting of September 13, 1971.
After discussion, Commissioner Meyer moved to support the efforts of. the Seminole
Zoological Society and if and when funds, not from tax sources, are available, further con-
sideration will be given. Seconded by Commissioner Roberts and carried.
Capt. Blake next requested the Commission to authorize the use of the. City Contri-
bution Boxes and the proceeds from them at the Zoo for his organization.
After consideration, Commissioner Meyer moved to authorize the City signs to be re-
moved from the Contribution Boxes and to authorize the Zoological Society to place signs on
the boxes and retain the funds collected in them. Seconded by Commissioner Stenstom and
carried.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
