The City Commission of the CitY of Sanford~ Florida, met in special session at the
City Hall in the City of.Sanford, Florida, at 9:00 o'clock A. M., May 9, 1973, for the put-
pose of canvassing the Election Returns of the Special Election hel.d on May 8, 1973.

The Chairman called~the meeting into, sess~n'to canvass,:the returns of the Special
Election held onLMay 8, 1973, on the question of amending the City Charter to provide for
residence requirements for candidates for the City Commission and.for terms of office.
Returns made by the Clerk and Inspectors of the election were examined.and the ab-
sentee ballots opened and examined by the City Clerk and the City Commission and recorded,
as follows

Commissioner McClanahan then moved that the returns of the Clerk~and Inspectors of
the Special Election held May 8, 1973, be accepted and the absentee ballots be approVed as
recorded. Seconded by Commissioner Morris and carried.
The Chairman announced that the proposed Charter amendment had failed to carry.
On motion of Commissioner Morris, seconded by Commissioner McClanahan and carried,
the Clerk and Inspectors working the 1973 Special Election were authorized to be paid at the
rate of $1.60 per hour.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
