Present: Mayor-Commissioner Lee P. Moore Commissioner John G. Morris Commissioner Julian L. Stenstrom Commissioner A. A. McClanahan Commissioner Eddie O. Keith City Attorney C. Vernon Mize, Jr. City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr. Absent: Police Chief Ben E. Butler The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. Mr. Dan Acito, Interior Designer, Winter Park, gave a presentation to be considered for work on the new City Hail. The City Manager reported that the Chamber of Commerce had agreed to advertise jointly with the City of Sanford in the Evening Herald Centennial Edition, for a total cost of $516. Commissioner McClanahan moved to authorize same. Seconded by ~Commissioner Keith and carried over the dissenting votes of Commissioner Morris and Commissioner Stenstrom. The City Manager reported that The Sanford 86 Limited PartnershiP had agreed to relinquish any further claims against the City provided the City agrees to release immediately to the seller the security deposit and the City terminate re-zoning proceedings. The City Attorney recommended that the Commission t~ke no action on the rezoning until meeting of June 27, 1977. Commissioner Morris moved to authorize the City AttOrney to direct a demand letter to John Alexander, Realtor, for return of the earnest money deposit in amount of $10,000. Seconded by Commissioner McClanahan and carried. The City Manager reported that Utility Office employee Dianne Magner had suggested placing a Centennial Time Capsule in the new City Hall. Commissioner Stenstrom moved to pursue the idea. Seconded by Commissioner Keith and carried. The City Manager reported that the utility department would have to take about 150 water samples and purchase additional supplies in amount of $2,100, to comply with require- ments to remain on the list of certified suppliers of water for interstate carriers. The Commission authorized the City Manager to wait until the State of Florida goes under a new federal law incorporating interstate water standards, to decide whether or not the City of Sanford will attempt to remain on said list. The Commission authorized a meeting to be held on June 21, 1977 at 8:00 P. M. to consider a proposed Equal Employment Opportunity Commission agreement. Margaret McCormick, Interior Designer, Tampa, gave a presentation to be considered for work on the new City Hall, and stated she could submit a firm cost estimate after looking at the plans for the new City Hall. 19 77 ~-.- --.-- ~ ~CitY*Cr~mmission, Sanfo~d~.Ftorid~- :,. :: Jun~: 20 at 4:00 P. M. MIDSTATE LEGAL SUPPLY COMPANY The Commission indicated approval of a draft of the Seminole County Comprehensive Plan, incorporating recommended amendments submitted by County Planner Bill Kercher.
