August 2 at 8: 00 o ' clock PM 1977 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Session in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. on August 2, 1977. Present: Mayor-Commissioner Lee P. Moore Commissioner John G. Morris Commissioner Julian L. Stenstrom Commissioner A. A. McClanahan Commissioner Eddie O. Keith City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr. Absent: City Attorney C. Vernon Mize, Jr. Police Chief Ben E. Butler The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. The first item of business was consideration of the proposed 77-78 budget, as sub- mitted by the City Manager. The Commission authorized to delete four booking officer positions from line item "Salary" in the Police Administrative Department, and to utiliz~ the booking procedures by the Sheriff at the Seminole County Jail. The Commission authorized the City Manager to request the Seminole County Sheriff to accept the Air Surveillance Unit and to delete $4,200 from line item "Airplane, Supplies, Fuel and Repairs" in the Police Administration Department The Commission authorized to investigate Major Crime Scene Investigations being turned over to the Office of Seminole County Sheriff. The Commission authorized to delete line item "Other Personal Services" from Police Department, Uniform Division, in amount of $5,000, and transfer same to Contingency. On recommendation of the City Manager, Commissioner Stenstrom moved to reduce the motorcycle squad to three, with one assigned to each daytime shift (other than 11:00 P. M. to 7:00 A. M.). Seconded by Commissioner Keith. Motion failed to carry over dissenting votes of Commissioner McClanahan, Commissioner Keith, Commissioner Morris and Mayor Moore. Commissioner McClanahan moved to delete $3,000 from line item "Other Personal Ser- vices'' in the Police Department, Investigation Division, and transfer to contingency. Seconded by Commissioner Keith and carried. Commissioner McClanahan moved to authorize to turn off immediately, the street lights on Seminole Boulevard along the lakefront, outside the City, and to delete $3,200 from line item "Electricity - Street Lights". Seconded by Commissioner Morris and carried over the dissenting votes of Commissioner Stenstrom and Commissioner Keith. The City Manager was authorized to notify the county officials that the City would no longer pay for the street lights along the lakefront, outside the City. _~D~LS GAL ~AIWy ....
