MIDSTATE LEGAL SUPPLY COMPANY
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Session in the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 4:00 o'clock P. Mo on August 15, 1977.
Present: Mayor-Commissioner Lee P. Moore

Commissioner Eddie O. Keith
City Manager W. E. Knowles
City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr.
Absent: COmmissioner John G. Morris
City Attorney C. Vernon Mize, Jr.
Police Chief Ben E. Butler
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
The Mayor reported that the Selection Committee had examined the applications for
Chief of Police and recommended eight for the Commission's review. The Commission authorized
to review the eight, and to designate the top three to be interviewed, and give priorities
to the remaining five.
The next item of business was consideration of the proposed 77-78 budget, as submit-
ted by the City Manager.
The City Manager was authorized to consider reducing areas of service in the pro-
posed budget, and re-submit to the Commission at 8:00 o'clock P. Mi on August 16, 1977.
Commissioner Bill Kirchoff, Seminole County District 5, was present to discuss the
City's action to turn off the street lights on Seminole Boulevard along the lakefront, out-
side the City. He stated that the County had purchased the poles and fixtures, and the City
had erected them and agreed to pay for the electricity. He stated that if the City was not
going to use them, the County would probably take them down and use them elsewhere in an
unincorporated area of the County, possibly to light an entrance to a county park. He stated
that the County does not have any street lights and that street lighting in the unincorpora-
ted areas of the County are paid for by property owners in the street lighting district.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
