City Commission, Sanford, Florida December 6, 19 78
The City Commission of the Cigy of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Session
in the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 12:00 o'clock Noon on December 6,
1978.
Present: Mayor-Commissioner Lee P. Moore
Commissioner John G. Morris
Commissioner Julian L. Stenstrom
Commissioner A. A. McClanahan
Commissioner E. O. Keit:h
City Attorney C. Vernon Mize, Jr.
City Manager W. E. Knowles
City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr.
The Chairman called the meeting into sessi,on to canvass the returns of the
Municipal Election held on December 5, 1978, for the purpose of electing two City
Commissioners for m term of office of four year~, commencing on the first Tuesday after
the first Monday in January, 1979, and on the question of changing the theme of Sanford
from "The Friendly City" to "Train Town USA".
Returns made by the Clerk and Inspectors of the election were examined and the
absentee ballots opened and examined by t~he City Clerk and the City Commission and
recorded, as follows:

Commissioner Morris moved that the returns of the Clerk and Inspectors of
the election held December 5, 1978 be accepted and the absentee ballots be approved as
recorded. Seconded by Commissioner Stenstrom and carried.
Thereupon, John G. Morris,Seat No. 4, was certified as duly elected to said
office, for a term to commence on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January,

Commissioner Stenstrom moved to pay the poll workers for the December 5,
1978 General Election at the rate of $35.00 for Inspectors and $40,00 for the Clerk.
Seconded by Commissioner McClanahan and carried.
Commissioner Morris moved t° 'aUthoriZe a Run-Off General Election to. be
held on December 19, 1978, for City Commission Seat No. 3, for candidates as follows:

A.A: "'Mac" McClanahan
Seconded by ~'ommissioner Stenstrom and carried.
The CommiSsion next authorized the Mayor, City Clerk and City Auditor
to enter the Safe Deposit BoX, at the Atlantic National Bank of Seminole, for the
annual~audit. . _
