The City Commission of the City of:iSanford, Florida, met in Special Session in the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. on May 22, 1979.
present: Mayor-Commissioner Lee P. Moore
Commissioner John G. Morris
Commissioner Jul~n L. Stenstrom
Commissioner David T. Fart
Commissioner Eddie O. Keith

Absent: City Manager W. E. Knowles
The meeting was called to order bY the Chairman.
The Chairman announced that the Purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possible
relocation of Seminole Memorial Hoppital from East 1st Street to the Lake Mary area.
The Chairman announced that the Commission would hear from tho~e persons present
to speak in favor of or in opposition to the proposed relocation.
The City Manager submitted an evaluation of the Capital Costs of two facility op-
tions by Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc., Atlanta, Georgia, Consulting Engineers for the hospital
trustees.
Letter submitted from Dr. G. W. Edwards, DMD in opposition to the relocation.
Dr. Vincent Roberts, M. D., 1301 East 2nd Street was present to speak in opposition
to the relocation, and stated the present location would better serve the public. He also
stated that Seminole Memorial Hospital is 25 years old and was in need of some changes; that
Seminole Memorial Hospital has approximately 13 acres of land; and further, the Federal Govern-
ment would not have approved the grant for Bram Towers if it had not been located near Semi-
nole Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Gonzalo Huaman, M.D., 819 East 1st Street, stated that the doctors were not
leaving the hospital, but were opening a second office in the south end of the county to bet-
ter serve the people that live in that area and that he and Dr. Bachrach's main office was
in Sanford.
A representative of the Senior Citizens of the Chamber of Commerce was present to
speak in opposition because the relocation would be a hardship on them and the volunteer help
to transport patients outside the city When, now, they can g.o across the street.
After discussion, Commissioner Fart moved to authorize the City Attorney to prepare
a resolution to oppose the relocation of Seminole Memorial Hospital from its present location
to a location outside the city and to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute same.
!Seconded by Commissioner Stenstrom and carried.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
