City Commission, Sanford, Florida

The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Session in the
City Manager's Conference Room in the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 12:00
o'clock P. M. on March 23, 1984.

The Mayor announced that the purpose of the meeting was to relieve any
misunderstanding between the two communities about a common problem of obtaining water from
the same area over the short period and long term period of time.
The Mayor pointed out that last~year the City had approximately a million dollars
in the Utility Trust and Renewal Reserves, and a relatively sufficient supply of water, then
since the December discovery of the EDB in the Mayfair well field, the City has spent or
committed nearly all of the reserve to restore almost the same water capacity.
Mayor Sorenson stated Lake Mary has plans to be self suffiCient as to water supply
by establishing a well field in the vicinity of Rhinehart ~Road and Lake Mary Boulevard,
with a projected completion date for Phase I Of December, 19~5.
Lake Mary City Manager Kathy Rice estimated he~City,s needs.~of":831,000 gallons
per day by completion date of Phase I, and that currently the City has a demand of about
300,000 gallons per day, and further, that Phase I was projected for five years use.
Mayor Sorenson stated that the proposed use by the City of Sanford for a well
field of'24 acres on Country Club Road~and Rantoul Lane will be heard by the Lake Mary Board
of Adjustment at their meeting of April 4, 1985.
After discussion of impact connection fees, same was referred to each commission
for their deliberation.
Another meeting was scheduled to be held at 12:00 Noon on April 6, 1984 to
continue joint discussion of the aforesaid subjects.
