HomeMy WebLinkAbout061197 rm min CITIZEN'S ADVISORY BOARD Minutes Wednesday, June 11, 1997 7:00 PM City Commission Conference Room PRESENT: Bernard Brown, Richard Huber, Paul Legge, Kevin Hipes, Dean Ray, Joan Campbell, Tom Carpenter, Rev. Ricky Scott, Police Chief Joe Dillard, and Gracy Posley This meeting was called to order by Chairperson Brown. Mr. Brown requested approval of CAB minutes for May 14, 1997 if there are no changes or corrections. Motion made by Mr. Legge, seconded by Mrs. Campbell, motion carried for the minutes to be approved. Mr. Brown welcomes new member Tom Carpenter. And also greets Rev. Scott. Mr. Brown requests sub - committee reports. Mr. Hipes distributes draft and report on by -laws with minor changes and advises the by -laws are complete and ready to be presented to the City Commission. Mrs. Campbell distributes form and explains the Hearing Process for a CAB hearing. Mr. Legge asks if the Board receives an anonymous Hearing Process form, will it be accepted? The Board agrees to accept anonymous forms. Discretion will be used with anonymous comments; lack of contact information is sometimes a factor. Ways and locations were discussed in making the CAB Hearing Process form available to the public. Mrs. Campbell to forward a Hearing Process form with larger print to Miss Posley to be incorporated in the by- laws. The People of Sanford sub - committee emphasizes continual publicizing of CAB. Miss Posley mentions CAB agendas are mailed to the Sanford Herald and the Orlando Sentinel. Motion made by Mr. Legge, seconded by Mr. Hipes and carried for CAB's by -laws and hearing process form be forwarded to the City Commission for approval. Cindy Hendricksen, leasing /property manager of Kimco Realty (WalMart plaza) comments of being pleased with the police department's services. Ms. Hendricksen mentions her company is open for providing sub - station space for the police department. Chief Dillard states the police department has been utilizing an office at WalMart for a couple of years for the use of writing reports, observations, etc. and is interested in further discussion re the sub - station. Linda Raby from the audience states positive comments need to get to the police officers. Re the Hearing Process form, Mr. Legge mentions to Chief Dillard to possibly have the completed forms posted in the squad room on a clipboard. Mr. Legge refers questions to Chief Dillard re the assessment company (Public Administration Services) for the police department. Chief Dillard advises the company is under a sixty -days contract and once the assessment is completed and viewed by the City Commission, it will be public information. General public issues being discussed; there being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM.
