Sanford Public Safety Complex 815 W. 13 Street, Sanford, Florida PRESENT: Helen Mausser, Joe Torresin, Katheryn Alexander, Carsandra Buie, John Wright, Bill Lee - Police Chief and Gracy Posley Absent: Betty Jack and Trace Trylko Audience: A. McCollough, P. Doughty, T. Troutman, SP.D. Staff Called to Order by Ms. Mausser. Ms. Mausser welcomed and thanked all present for attending the meeting. Ms. Mausser requested the Minutes of January 11, 2012 be approved if there were no changes. Motion was made by Mr. Torresin, seconded by Mr. Wright. Minutes were approved as written. Chief Lee Address CAB • Distributed Sanford Police Department's new police vehicle design ■ SP.D.'s vehicle procurement plan for leasing investigation vehicles and lease /purchase of patrol vehicles • Police and Fire Pension — how the economy effects the City's contribution and budget ■ City Budget Planning — 83% of the budget is personnel cost. Each department has been asked to cut 5% out of their budget. Old Business ■ Mr. Torresin — In the Preserve subdivision, the same vehicles are arkin in No Parking illegally; it is a p g g danger to children and residents. No Parking matter resolved by the Traffic Unit. ■ Chief Lee — 1) Homeless /Panhandling — City has a drafted Ordinance 2) Homeless camp cleared and v property cleaned out by police at Live Oak Blvd., western right-of-way (NJB Investments, , owners). New Business ■ (Ms. Mausser) — speeders on Live Oak Blvd. - Inquired re CVSA and the DEA raid of oxycodone. Captain O'Connor explained the process of prescriptions with DEA. Stated such operations are handled between the Department of Health and DEA. Typically police departments are not contact. ■ (Sgt. GSmith) - 'Recent traffic operation conducted at 20 St. /Oregon Ave. •Statistics show Tuesday as the most frequent day for crashes •Many complaints received re the speeding of school bus drivers •Invited CABoard members to run the laser /radar with a traffic officer. ■ (Capt. O'Connor) - •General Investigators will start working 4 days /10 hour shifts. Investigators will now be in the office during evening hours. Investigators will work until 10 p.m. at least one night weekly and required to appear at briefings their first day back to duty. This schedule will allow Investigators the opportunity to communicate face -to -face with officers, victims and citizens for increased solvability. ■ CABoard agreed to meet quarterly or as needed.
