PRESENT: Helen Mausser, Joe Torresin, Betty Jack, Carsandra Buie, Trace Trylko, Steve Esler, Bill Lee -
Police Chief and Gracy Posley
Absent: Steve Chusmir, Katheryn Alexander and John Wright
Audience: A. McCollough, P. Doughty, Community Resident(s), SPD Volunteer KConley and SP.D. Staff
Called to Order by Ms. Mausser. Ms. Mausser welcomed and thanked all present for attending the meeting.
Ms. Mausser requested the Minutes of October 12, 2011 be approved if there were no changes. Motion was
made by Ms. Buie, seconded by Mr. Esler. Minutes were approved as written.
Ms. Mausser explained that this meeting was the quarterly on- the -road district meeting for District 3.
Chief Lee added that one of the Board's purposes is to address the interests and concerns of the citizens.
Chief Lee then introduced the Sanford Police Department staff present.
Old Business
• Sgt. J. Santiago provided an update re prostitution in the Historic District, Hwy 17 -92 and side streets.
Prostitution complaints and activity have decreased for October. Any prostitution arrests will be posted in the
newspaper. The Vice Unit is working with the State Attorney's Office regarding a crime control method.
Prostitution up to three arrests is a misdemeanor, fourth arrest is a felony.
Mr. Trylko inquired as to where have the prostitutes gone? Sgt. Santiago commented most of the male solicitors
do not live within the city.
• Chief Lee and Lt. Harden did a follow -up with Mrs. O'Neal of 6 St., complaint of a burglary /theft and her
neighbor's dog.

■ SP.D. is in the process of hiring six police officers via the COPS Grant. Ms. Buie inquired re the hiring
process. Chief Lee explained the several hiring phases involved and that it is a slow process.
New Business
• Ms. Mausser inquired how does SP.D.'s reorg effect the various districts? Lt. McAuliffe commented that the
officer's take ownership in their assigned community service areas (CSA), geographical areas are smaller,
identifying criminal and environmental issues (street lighting, etc). He stated burglars do not like barking dogs.
Chief Lee added 30 -35% of burglaries are preventable and are crimes of opportunity due to unlocked doors.
Also, it is holiday season. Please retain serial numbers from merchandise and products purchased. Lt. Taylor
commented to be careful with shopping during the holidays. Keep packages out of view and do not display
empty boxes in the trash.

• Sgt. Raimondo commented re Bravo Night shift patrolling in Region Two (eastside). Traffic operations have
been successful with the arrests of guns and drugs.
■ Ms. Buie introduced Attorney Phil Archer who is seeking the office of State Attorney in Brevard County.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:20 P.M.
