PRESENT: Helen Mausser, Joe Torresin, Steve Esler, Carsandra Buie, John Wright, Bill Lee- Police Chief
and Gracy Posley
Absent: Betty Jack, Steve Chusmir, Trace Trylko and Katheryn Alexander
Audience: A. McCollough, P. Doughty and SPD Staff
Called to Order by Ms. Mausser. Ms. Mausser requested the Minutes of June 8, 2011 be approved if there
were no changes. Motion made by Mr. Torresin, seconded by Mr. Wright for the Minutes to be approved as
written.
Chief Lee Address CAB
■ Powerpoint presentation with handout re index crimes analysis April 2 — July 2 2011.
Discussed — 1) crimes of opportunity 2) crime prevention efforts 3) Hot Spot maps provided re burglaries,
larcenies. Members present suggested adding area specific maps and Pawn Shop list to the crime analysis
report. Resources for the elderly and lights for carports were mentioned as crime prevention tips.
Lieutenant McAuliffe of Region 1 commented re the enthusiasm that is seen from the officers regarding the
April 2, 2011 reorg. The reorg brought about one Lieutenant (McAuliffe) for Region 1 and one Lieutenant
(Harden) for Region 2 that are geographically linked (north and south being the base of boundary). The
Community Service Area (CSA) map consists of fourteen CSAs that now assign officers to a specific CSA.
The officers and citizens become acquainted with one another. Burglaries and crimes are now more efficiently
geographically based. Patrol is now more effective because each Region is setup with officers, general
investigators, motors, etc.

■ America's National Night Out, partnering for a safer community against crime and drugs is scheduled for
Tuesday, August 2 6 P.M. at Ft. Mellon Park (E. 1S Street). Sanford's Super Target will be hosting this event.
Plenty of free activities, food, face painting, games and giveaways for the family.
New Business
■ Chief Lee commented re CABoard's quarterly meeting to be scheduled in City Commissioner districts 1 -4.
Some meeting/presentation items will consist of SPD's April 2, 2011 reorg progress and area specific crime
stats. September 14, 2011 CABoard meeting will be held in District 1, Commissioner McCarty and Mayor
Triplett's area. Ms. Mausser will make contact with them re a meeting location.
■ CABoard link on SPD's site will be updated in the near future. The City's entire website and all departments
will be revamped. Mr. Esler added for additional CABoard information to be added to the City website.
■ (Mr. Torresin) Inquired re SPD new vehicles. Chief Lee commented that seventeen vehicles were just recently
received. The older vehicles will be replaced. Two of the new vehicles will be equipped for aggressive drivers.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
