City Commission Chambers PRESENT: Helen Mausser, Katheryn Alexander, Joe Torresin, Trace Trylko, John Wright, Steve Esler, Steve Chusmir, Brian Tooley- Police Chief and Gracy Posley Absent: Excused — Betty Jack Audience: Commissioner P. Mahany, P. Dougherty, W. Chandler, A. McCollough, O. Redden and Others Called to Order by Ms. Mausser. Ms. Mausser requested the Minutes of October 13, 2010 be approved if there were no changes. Motioned by Mrs. Alexander, seconded by Mr. Esler the Minutes were approved as written. Chief Tooley Address CAB "'Police and Fire Headquarters Grand Opening November 5 went well. Some fine tuning being made in the new facility. Building is now open 24 -7 and will make a difference to all "'Will interview Carsandra Buie November 15 week re CABoard ■ Mr. Torresin — Ride Along approved for November 13 Saturday night (Bravo Night Shift) • Police Chief Selection Process is moving forward. Will meet with Chuck Rohre of Waters Consulting on November 1l Mrs. Mausser inquired; Chief Tooley will communicate to Mr. Rohre CABoard's desire to be involved in this process. Mr. Chusmir inquired re new Police Chiefs requirements. Chief Tooley, requirements must be impeccable, work with the community, etc. Mr. Esler inquired re new Police Chief's pay scale. • January 12, 2011 On- the -Road (District One) meeting will be in the district of new City Commissioner Mark McCarty "[Relocation of CABoard meetings to Public Safety Complex — Jack Bridges Community Meeting Room, First Floor ■ Mr. Torresin inquired. Chief Tooley advised, no criminal wrong doing found by Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement and State Attorney's Office re Sgt. Raimondo's court testimony perjury complaint filed by Judge Alva. SPD's Internal Affairs has to complete an in -house investigation. Mr. Redden commented Sgt. Raimondo is a good officer and a professional. • CABoard will tour Public Safety Complex following the meeting. Followup ■ (Chief Tooley) — Mr. Chusmir's suggestion of email /text neighborhood emergency alert notification. The Sheriff's Office is working on software that will be used County -wide via dispatch to notify citizens regarding neighborhood emergencies. Citizen's Advisory Board November 10, 2010 Page 2 of 2 New Business ■ Mr. Redden inquired as to what does the Citizen's Advisory Board do? This and other questions were answered by Mrs. Mausser, Chairperson and Mr. Torresin. ■ Questions of concerned citizens from the audience (Mr. C. Dixon, Mr. Irvin Duncan) regarding CABoard, neighborhood watches and homelessness were addressed by CABoard. ■ Mrs. R. Arnold has a significant increase of thefts in her neighborhood, 3300 block of S. Park Ave. Instructed by Chief Tooley to stick with neighborhood watch and Community Policing will be in contact with her. ■ Mr. V. Redden complained of speeders on McKay Blvd. Chief Tooley will have the Traffic Sergeant contact him re traffic enforcement. ■ Mr. Torresin inquired re SPD's license plate recognition software. Chief Tooley responded the program is connected to the Sheriffs Office programs. One license plate reader will be portable and one reader will be mounted on a patrol vehicle. A list of all expired or stolen plates, vehicles entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database, as well as any FCIC information will be read and hit on by this system. License plate reader will be demonstrated at an upcoming meeting. There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:05 P.M. Minutes prepared by Gracy Posley, CABoard Secretary.
