Greystone Clubhouse PRESENT: Helen Mausser, Katheryn Alexander, Joe Torresin, Betty Jack, Trace Trylko, John Wright, Steve Esler, Brian Tooley- Police Chief and Gracy Posley Absent: Excused — Steve Chusmir Audience: SP.D. Staff, Mayor L. Kuhn, Commissioner P. Mahany and Community Residents Called to Order by Chief Tooley. He welcomed Commissioner P. Mahany (District Four) and Mayor Kuhn to the meeting. Chief Tooley presented Commissioner Mahany with her public safety badge. He explained that this meeting was the quarterly on- the -road district meeting. New Board member Steve Esler was asked to introduce himself. Mr. Esler has an expertise in managing construction- building and is interested in continuing the positive steps being made by the CABoard and Chief Tooley. CABoard members and SP.D. Staff introduced themselves. Chief Tooley opened the floor for the election of the vice - chairperson and chairperson. Ms. Mausser nominated Mr. Torresin as vice - chairperson, seconded by Mr. Trylko; unanimous votes for Mr. Torresin as vice - chairperson. Ms. Jack nominated Ms. Mausser as chairperson, seconded by Mr. Torresin; unanimous votes for Ms. Mausser as chairperson. Chief Tooley turned the meeting over to Ms. Mausser, Chairperson. Ms. Mausser requested the Minutes of September 9, 2010 be approved if there were no changes. Motioned by Mrs. Alexander, seconded by Ms. Mausser the Minutes were approved as written. Ms. Mausser welcomed and thanked all present for attending the meeting. Chief Tooley Address CAB • CABoard is a valuable tool to the Police Department • SP.D. accomplishments mentioned • Poverty equals crime is a challenge for City government and the Police Department, hence progress continues. Police Department putting forth an effort to utilize the 180 churches in Sanford regarding homelessness, poverty and crime • Police and Fire Headquarters construction is progressing well and is $2 million under budget. The new facility will be open to the public October 25 Grand Opening is November 5th. New Business • Questions and answers were opened to the audience. Citizens from the audience questions and concerns were addressed by Staff present. -Ms. W. Cavanuagh — Her five year old son of Bentley Elementary left the school. The substitute teacher did not call 9 -1 -1. Captain Hargrett will contact Mr. DeVecchio of the Seminole County Public Schools re protocol. There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:35 P.M. Minutes prepared by Gracy Posley, CABoard Secretary.
