Wednesday, September 9, 2010 6:30 P.M.
Sanford Police Department
PRESENT: Mark McCarty, Steve Chusmir, Katheryn Alexander, Dave Daly, Joe Torresin, Trace Trylko,
John Wright, Brian Tooley - Police Chief and Gracy Posley
Absent: Excused — Helen Mausser and Betty Jack
Audience: Hank Dieckhaus
Called to Order by Mr. McCarty. New Board member Mr. John Wright was welcomed. Mr. Wright gave an
overview of his career involving law enforcement, military, security and private investigator.
Mr. McCarty requested the Minutes of August 11, 2010 be adopted if there were no changes. Motioned by
Mrs. Alexander, seconded by Mr. Daly; Minutes were approved as written.
Mr. McCarty and Mr. Daly's final terms end September 30, 2010. Chief Tooley relayed appreciation for their
years of good service. A new City ordinance in May 2009 brought about the new four -year terms with three
term limits.
Follow -up
■ Mr. Chusmir inquired reference the status of his suggestion for SP.D. /dispatch to be able to alert, notify
citizens regarding major crises. He commented the University of Central Florida has an alert texting program.
Chief Tooley has referred this request to Information Systems.
Chief Tooley Address CAB
• Has briefed all employees and Sections regarding his retirement effective January 31, 2011. Will continue
through April 30, 2011 as a consultant and to assist in the transition of the new Chief of Police. Suggested a
national search, process selection of the new Chief of Police via Florida Police Chiefs Association or Police
Executive Research Forum.
Mr. Trylko inquired if the City will allow a CABoard member to be apart of the Chief s selection committee? It
is possible. The City Manager and Human Resources Director are preparing the process.
Members present toured the current Sanford Police Department.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
