PRESENT: Helen Mausser, Katheryn Alexander, Joe Torresin, Betty Jack, Trace Trylko, Brian Tooley-
Police Chief and Gracy Posley
Absent: Excused — Mark McCarty, Steve Chusmir and Dave Daly
Audience: SP.D. Staff, Commissioner R. Jones and Community Residents
Called to Order by Mrs. Mausser. New Board member Trace Trylko was asked to introduce himself.
Mr. Trylko is a member of SACSON (Seminole Action Coalition Serving Our Needy). Chief Tooley
commented SACSON is doing a great job to address homelessness in our communities. Mrs. Mausser and
CABoard members introduced themselves to the audience. Chief Tooley thanked Ed DeWitt, Pastor for the use
of the church.
Chief Tooley explained that this meeting was the quarterly on- the -road district meeting. Commissioner Jones
(District 3) stated he supports the Board and SPD in their efforts regarding law enforcement needs in our
communities.
Mrs. Mausser requested the Minutes of June 9, 2010 be adopted if there were no changes. Motioned by
Mr. Torresin, seconded; Minutes were approved as written.
Chief Toolev Address CAB
'Welcomed everyone and introduced Staff (Team SPD)
• Budget 2010 -2011 — 1) SPD's crime analyst taking the voluntary resignation package effective July 30 SPD
crime analyzing will be fulfilled by the Sheriffs Office 2) City administrative personnel (overtime exempt)
will continue three -weeks furlough
• SPD Volunteer Program currently consists of sixty volunteers
■ August 3 National Night Out 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. Main event will be held at Ft. Mellon Park. Neighborhood
Watch block captains will have neighborhood events throughout the City
• Officer Worrall was shot on -duty June 3 Officer returned to work June 22 " making great progress
• Officer Lonnie Taylor has had his lower leg amputated. July 24 starting 7 A.M. a softball fundraiser will be
held at Pinehurst Park, 1000 W. 24 Street
■ Police and Fire Headquarters construction was initiated during Mayor Bettye Smith's era. Construction is
progressing well. Move in date is November 2010. Note of interest, Sanford Fire Department is the busiest fire
department in Central Florida.
Remarks
■ Questions and answers were opened to the audience. Citizens from the audience questions and concerns were
addressed by Staff present.
■ How will PD continue coverage regarding District 3? Chief Tooley commented important calls and issues will
continue being provided regardless of the budget /staffing. Explained that seven police officers will be retained
on the payroll via the amended COPS Grant. The City must acquire the full amount for the seven officers at the
conclusion of the three -years grant.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
