Wednesday, September 9, 2009 6:30 P.M.
City Commission Chambers
PRESENT: Mark McCarty, Helen Mausser, Steve Chusmir, Mark Russi, Katheryn Alexander, Betty Jack,
Nancy Roberts, Agnes Knighton, Brian Tooley- Police Chief and Gracy Posley
Absent: Excused — Dr. Brenedette Hardy - Blake, and David Daly
Audience: Anna McCollough, Andrew Thomas and Wendy Wheaton
Called to Order by Mr. McCarty. Mr. McCarty requested the Minutes of August 12, 2009 be adopted if there
were no changes. Motioned by Mrs. Mausser, seconded by Mr. Chusmir; Minutes were approved as written.
Old Business
■ Mr. Chusmir suggested for Internal Affairs to provide quarterly reports to CABoard.
Chief Tooley Address CAB
■ Mr. Andrew Thomas commented re the Police Community Relations (enhancement initiatives) report. Stated
the final report provided good ideas.
1112009 -10 Budget — Seven officers will be hired under the COPS Grants. Thirteen additional cars will be
purchased. Civilians will go from 40 hours weekly to a 37.5 hours weekly work schedule. Managers (exempt)
employees must take three weeks furlough during the year
■ Extra patrols re prostitution are being done in the Historic District and alleyways. Advised residents to trim
the trees in the alleys to help prevent thefts
• Continuing proactive patrols re transients on RiverWalk during night hours
■ CABoard and information being added to SPD website
■ SPD Throw /Blankets are being ordered - $29. each, 48x70 red, white, blue. Will take orders until
September 28
■ SPD Team has a new Sergeant. Paul Hcrx was promoted September 11, 2009 hired with SPD March 1996.
Has been assigned to CCAT (city county auto theft) since December 2001.
• Crimemapping.com is live on SPD's website. The crime information is no more than 24 hours old.
■ Mr. McCarty commented re the world -wide news story of the girl that was abducted at the age of 11 and has
been located 18 years later. Inquired re pedophiles. Chief Tooley stated SPD checks on sexual
offenders /predators quarterly.
■ Public Safety Complex project is on target. A web camera is setup on the construction site
• 2010 CABoard will start community based district meetings.
■ W. Wheaton submitted a CABoard application.

New Business
■ Mr. Chusmir inquired re emailing complaints to dispatch rather than calling in the complaint to dispatch?
Chief Tooley will have SPD liaison check with dispatch supervisor.
■ Z. McBride of Summerlin Ave. has concerns of her neighbors, ages 3 to 19 years of age are not attending
school. Chief Tooley will have an officer contact Ms. McBride for additional information.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:05 P.M.
