Minutes
Wednesday, March 11, 2009 6:30 P.M.
City Commission Chambers
PRESENT: Mark McCarty, Katheryn Alexander, Helen Mausser, Nancy Roberts, David Daly,
Dr. Brenedette Hardy - Blake, Brian Tooley- Police Chief and Gracy Posley
Absent: Excused — Betty Jack, Mark Russi, and Agnes Knighton
Audience: Lester and Anna McCollough
Called to Order by Mr. McCarty. Mr. McCarty requested the Minutes of November 12, 2008 and Notes of
January 14 and February 11, 2009 be adopted if there were no changes. Motioned by Dr. Hardy- Blake,
seconded by Mrs. Roberts; Minutes and Notes were approved as written.

Chief Tooley Address CAB
• Regards given to Mr. McCarty on the loss of his wife, Vernice
• Chairperson/Vice- Chairperson Election — April 2009
• City combining all City board ordinances into one — approximately April 13, 2009
■ Sergeant Irvin is the latest SPD graduate (March 6 of the Southern Police Institute. Command Officers
Development course (five two -week sessions over five months)
■ Girls Gone Wild (March 7 at The Barn. Off -duty officers were hired, four arrests made.
■ Second suspect captured (March 3 regarding the 2007 Video News homicide
■ Walgreens (25 St.) armed robbery with a razor knife (March 11 the suspect was captured via Stop Sticks;
he had 632 oxycodones pills
• City of Sanford will sponsor a tree give away April 18, 2009. Registration is through the Recreation
department
• Chief Tooley, Fire Chief Ransom and others will travel to Martin County on March 13 to tour the agency's
public safety complex /EOC. This complex has similarities of the City's upcoming public safety complex
• February 25 burglary in Mayfair subdivision where the suspect was shot in the face. Mr. McCarty identified
the second suspect that was thought to be a male was a female. The two suspects had knocked on his door
approximately 8:00 a.m. that morning
■ Advised all to please secure your home and properties. Stress taking precaution regarding burglaries (daytime)
• SPD is attempting to receive Stimulus funds for the COPS /Byrne Grant that will cover salary and benefits to
officers for three years at 100 %. SPD must purchase the officers equipment. Chief Tooley will apply for at
least ten officers.
