City Commission Chambers PRESENT: Mark McCarty, Katheryn Alexander, Helen Mausser, Betty Jack, Nancy Roberts, Mark Russi, Brian Tooley- Police Chief and Gracy Posley Absent: Excused — Dr. Brenedette Hardy - Blake, David Daly, and Agnes Knighton Audience: Mrs. Anna McCollough Called to Order by Mr. McCarty. Chief Tooley introduced Sgt. A. Raimondo of SPD's Street Crimes Section. Sgt. Raimondo provided CABoard an impressive overview of this section. The workforce has doubled for street crimes and the officers are listening to citizen complaints from community meetings. Solutions from the public are always welcomed. The Section's schedule coincides with peak crime hours and the officers are there to modify the criminal's behavior. Minutes of August 13 and Notes of September 10 and October 8, 2008 are adopted if there were no changes. Motioned by Mrs. Mausser, seconded by Mrs. Alexander; Minutes and Notes were approved as written. Old Business (Mrs. Alexander) — Mentioned drug selling in the area of Mangoustine Avenue /14 Street. Follow -up Street Crimes Unit actively working this area. Also half of Street Crimes working from patrol vehicles, half working on bikes. The vending machine at this location has been removed as well. Chief Tooley Address CAB • Gas Surcharge implemented October 4 for employee bi- weekly deductions has been suspended due to fuel cost reductions. It will be reviewed at the end of each quarter re reinstatement (starting Jan. 2009) ■ Video News — provided homicide update • Crime analyst is now utilizing CrimeView software which can be overlayed with field contact cards for crime. The new software will be used for automating 30 -day notices re nuisance calls. ■ SNAG demolition — 811 Sanford Ave. ■ Public Safety Complex — walkway cover for citizens added to plans ■ Christmas Parade — Saturday, Dec. 6 6 P.M. ■ CABoard meeting for December 10 canceled New Business (Mr. McCarty) — Provided support to Chief Tooley re Maria Shreves article in the Sanford Herald re crime in Sanford. Chief Tooley stated SPD will continue improving and refining plans in the best interest of all. (Mrs. Roberts) — Suggested Community Relations send positive emails monthly to neighborhood watch groups. There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
