Wednesday, August 13, 2008 6:30 P.M.
City Commission Chambers
PRESENT: Mark McCarty, David Daly, Katheryn Alexander, Helen Mausser, Nancy Roberts, Betty Jack,
Mark Russi, Brian Tooley - Police Chief and Gracy Posley
Absent: Excused — Dr. Brenedette Hardy -Blake and Agnes Knighton
Audience: Lester and Anna McCollough
Called to Order by Mr. McCarty.
Mr. McCarty requested the Minutes of April 9 and Notes of May 14 and June 11, 2008 be adopted if there were
no changes. Motioned by Mrs. Mausser, seconded by Mrs. Alexander; Minutes and Notes were approved as
written.
Old Business
Mrs. Alexander — (loitering/car drive -thru drug activity in the area of 14 St. /Oleander Ave.), letter of trespass
obtained re xxxx Oleander (problem house); area continues to be monitored, Bike officers aggressively working
this area.
Mrs. Knighton — (young white males have been visiting the park at Orange Ave. /8 St. making radical remarks
and they wear gang -like colors. She was advised these young males attend Millennium Middle School.) Park
has been checked several times. Tactical Unit has observed gang -like members Black and White. Tactical Unit
will continue to monitor.
Chief Tooley Address CAB
11805 Sanford Ave. — car under the house is gone as of July 17
■National Night Out (Aug. 5 — great success. Washington Oaks Park was the site location and Target Stores
was the sponsorer
■Officer McClendon arrested 8.11.08 — unlawful compensation for auto repossession
• Petition from citizens group to have Chief Tooley removed — mentioned letter of support from City Manager
Yehl and Mayor Kuhn
■ Public Safety Complex — discussed interior finishes. Gumbo /soft clay issue on the site being analyzed.
Provided background information of Nick McRay, project manager whose office is located at SP.D.
■ Invited CABoard members to SP.D. Awards Program — September 16 6:30 p.m. at the Sanford Civic Center
• SP.D. department -wide Diversity and Conflict Resolution in the 21 Century training being held September 2,
3 and 4. Training will be taught by Mr. Andrew Thomas.
New Business
Mr. McCarty — inquired if the Sheriff's Office was still interested in the upcoming old SP.D.? Chief Tooley
responded this matter is on hold due to budget constraints.

Mr. Daly — Saw a story on Channel 13 News re Sanford changing its image. Mr. Daly inquired re Sanford's
crime increase due to the economy and stats. Chief Tooley responded he's seeing more violent crimes and gang
increase.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:25 P.M.
