Wednesday, February 9, 2005 6:30 PM
City Commission Chambers
PRESENT: Mark McCarty, Tom Carpenter, David Daly, Agnes Knighton, Nancy Roberts,
Dr. Brenedette Hardy - Blake, Helen Mausser, Jerry Hargrett - Captain, and
Gracy Posley
Absent: Excused — Bill Gibson and Betty Jack
Audience: Dwayne Hendon
Called to Order by Vice - Chairperson Mr. McCarty.
Police Chief Tooley introduced new member Helen Mausser to the Board. Mrs. Mausser and Board
members exchanged introductions.
Mr. McCarty requested Minutes of January 12, 2005 be adopted if there were no changes. Motioned
by Mr. Daly, seconded by Mr. Carpenter; Minutes were approved.
Old Business
• Revised By -Laws were discussed. Motioned by Mr. Carpenter, seconded by Mr. Daly for By -Laws to
be approved.
Brian Toolev, Chief of Police Address CAB
• Mr. Daly inquired of the status of the public safety building. Police Chief Tooley commented this
item is on the upcoming February 15 City Commission agenda re negotiations with Architect Design.
Board members are invited to attend.
Mrs. Mausser inquired re letters of concern for the need of a public safety building, Police Chief
Tooley stated to send letters to the district's designated City Commissioner.
• March 16 (8:30am — 4pm) Seven Habits of Highly Effective Law Enforcement workshop being
sponsored by Sanford Police Department at New Tribes Mission for all local law enforcement
agencies to attend. Michael Nila (former Police Chief of Illinois) with the Steven Covey organization
will be the guest speaker.
Local agencies have commented for similar workshops to become customary annually.
• Sanford Police Department officially Florida Commmission accredited February 9, 2005 at 9:30am.
Re- accreditation will be performed every three years.
Mr. Carpenter commented to be an accredited agency is a huge success. Sanford police
accomplished this mission in a short period of time.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm.
