Special Meeting
October 26, 1973
The Board of Adjustment met in special session at the City Hall at
3:30 P. M. on October 26, 1973.
Members Present:
B. L. Perkins, Chairman
Ned Julian
Robert Karns
W. Garnett White
Members Absent:
W. M. Philips
Others Present:
Bill Braceland, Building Official
Al Payne, Building Inspector
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
A letter of request of variance was submitted to the Board as

Gentlemen:
I am submitting the following information for your consideration
in requesting variance in the Zoning Ordinance as it pertains to
side yard setback requirements in GC -2, General Commercial Zoned
District.
Legal description being Lots 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, A. C. Martin
Subdivision. Property located at the southwest corner of Laurel
Avenue and Ninth Street.
The planned use of the property is for an addition to the
telephone building.
Any consideration given this request will be appreciated.

Mr. Robert Shedden was present and explained to the Board that
they are planning to build a 60 -foot addition to the first floor
of the present building. This addition will house central office
equipment. They need a variance of eleven feet on the Laurel Avenue
side and of seven feet on the alley side, to coincide with the
existing building.
There was a general discussion about off - street parking require-
ments, with no action taken, since this subject would be considered
with the site development plan by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
After discussion, Mr. Julian made a motion to grant the variance
as requested.
The motion was seconded by Mr. White and was carried by a
unanimous vote.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
