HomeMy WebLinkAbout05121989 min III MINUTES The Board of Adjustment of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Regular Session in the City Commission Chambers of the City Hall at 11:30 a.m. on May 12, 1989. Members Present: W.M. Philips Joe Schaeffer Steve Richards Norval Angle Members Absent: Larry Blair Others Present: Gary Winn The meeting was called to order at 11:30 a.m. The following letter was submitted for consideration: Board of Adjustment City Hall Sanford, FL 32771 Gentlemen: • I am submitting the following information for your consideration in requesting a variance in the Zoning Ordinance. Address: 1344 Elliott Avenue (Case # BOA 89 -01) Legal Description: Lot 18, Bik B Buena Vista Estates PB 3 PG 1 Zoning Classification: SR -1 Side Yard Requirements: 25 feet Present Setbacks: 15 feet Variance Needed: 10 feet The planned use of the property is to construct a single family residence. Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. Signed: Stenstrom /Stump Construction Bob Sander was present to represent the request. He stated that the construction of a new single- family residence would not have needed the variance prior to the new Land Development Regulations. The following letter was submitted for consideration: Board of Adjustment City Hall Sanford, FL 32771 Gentlemen: I am submitting the following information for your consideration in requesting a variance in the Zoning Ordinance. Address: 4200 S. Orlando Drive (Case # BOA 89 -02) Zoning Classification: GC -2 Requested Variance: Increase sign face (70 sq. ft. needed) Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. Signed: Holiday House Restaurant • Joe Notarianni (Melweb Signs) and Ronan Gainer (Holiday House) were present to represent the request and advised that they wanted to replace the existing sign so that it would enhance the visibility but that the new sign would actually be 30% less than the size of the existing sign. Joe Schaeffer made a motion to approve the request. Steve Richardson seconded. Philips - aye Schaeffer - aye Richards - aye Angle - opposed Motion carried. Address: 620 Cypress Avenue (Case # BOA 89 -03) Legal Description: Lot 6 Blk 8 Tr A Town of Sanford Zoning Classification: MR -3 Requested Variance: Non - Conforming Lot Area & Dimension, Density & Reduction of Parking Spaces Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. Signed: Levi Coleman /Claudia Sims Levi Coleman was present to represent the request and advised that the zoning is correct for the required use but the building does not meet criteria. That he needs approval from the Board of Adjustment in the variance requested in order to be able to proceed with Planning & Zoning for approval. He stated that the apartments are occupied by family members only and that he has one (1) granddaughter & one (1) grandson in the upstairs section and that the apartment he wants to add downstairs will be for • another grandson. It will not be rental property for public use. Steve Richards made a motion to approve the request. Norval Angle seconded. Philips - aye Schaeffer - aye Richards - aye Angle - aye Motion carried. The following letter was submitted for consideration: Board of Adjustment City Hall Sanford, Florida 32771 Gentlemen: I am submitting the following information for your consideration in requesting a variance in the Zoning Ordinance. Address: 500 W. Fulton Street (Case # BOA 89 -04) Zoning Classification: SC -3 • 4 MINUTES - BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT - MAY 12, 1989 - 11:30 A.M. PAGE 4 • Front Yard Requirements: 5 feet Present Setbacks: 6 inches Variance Needed: 4 feet Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. Signed: Porter - Conklin Partnership Paul Porter was present to represent the request and advised that they needed a variance in the existing sign ordinance as it applies to setback requirements so the existing freestanding sign could be replaced and relocated slightly. That they are requesting to locate the proposed sign one (1) foot from the front property line which is the back of the sidewalk on Fulton Street and that it will cause no sight distance problem. Norval Angle made a motion to approve the request. Joe Schaeffer seconded.
