Regular Session in the City Commission Chambers of the City Hall
at 11:30 a.m. on April 28, 1989.

The meeting was called to order at 11:35 a.m.
The following letter was submitted for consideration:

Gentlemen:
I am submitting the following information for your consideration
in requesting a variance in the Zoning Ordinance.
• Address: 211 Mellonville Avenue
Legal Description: Lot 6 Blk 7 Mayfair PB 3 PG 35
Zoning Classification: SR -1AA
Side Yard Requirements: 25 feet
Present Setbacks: 10 feet
Variance Needed: 15 feet
The planned use of the property is to construct a single family
residence.
Any consideration given this request will be appreciated.

Mr. Savard was present to represent the request.
He stated that the original intent was to subdivide the property
and build three (3) houses. All the lots are adjoining. He
stated that he was going to try to keep the oak trees and would
not have need the variance prior to the new Land Development
Regulations.

Requested Variance: Site parking requirements (Reduction in
required number of parking spaces)

• Monty Plank was present to represent the request and advised that
the parking at the location is not up to code but is sufficient
at this time with the expansion that they are planning. That
they do have an area for additional parking and that the existing
parking is for employees only.

Dean Shoemaker was present to represent the request and advised
that the road has been moved to save the trees. The buyer of the
house wants to install a pool so they need to bring the house
forward to save the trees in the backyard and be in line with the
existing house on the adjacent lot.

Requested Variance: To allow a chain link fence in a requested
buffer area.

Dan Taube was present to represent the request and advised that a
chain link fence was installed in the buffer area and he was
advised that the Land Development Regulations for the City of
Sanford did not allow such action and that the required buffer
area is 50 feet.
He stated that the fence is next to First Drive and above the
ditch and that the buffer area is opened landscape area and that
the fence is 16' inside the buffer. That the old R.R. right -of-
way is used as a road into the facility and that they will
landscape to create a visual barrier.
Steve Richards made a motion to allow the fence to remain in its
present location. Larry Blair seconded.
