MINUTES
City of Sanford Local Option
Public Employee Relations Commission
(PERC)
March 7, 1979
7:15 P.M.
Members Present:
Ernest Cowley, Chairman
Tom Hunt
Steve Rosenthal
Howard Whelchel
Garnett White
Others Present:
Richard Quigley, Assistant to City Manager
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by the Chairman, Ernest
Cowley in order to dispose of the order of business so the interviews
could begin at 7:30 P.M.
Mr. Hunt moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.
Mr. Rosenthal seconded. Motion carried.
Mr. Quigley reported the five other active Local Option PERC committees
in the state are; Del Rey Beach, Pensacola, Palm Beach, Lakeland and
Naples. The Chairman requested a letter be dent to these other com-
mittees for ideas of their operation which may be helpful to the
Sanford committee.
The business meeting was interrupted at 7:30 P.M. to begin the interviews
with Mr. James Brown, Mr. Thomas Lang and Mr. Frank Kruppenbacker.
Upon completion of the interviews, discussion followed regarding
availability, cost and aptitude for the job . After discussion, Mr. Hunt
moved to retain James Brown, of Rock & Brown, requesting a contract
from Mr. Brown for review by the Committee and presentation to the
City Commission. Mr. Whelchel seconded the motion. Motion carried
unanimously.
Chairman Cowley recalled the three attorneys to thank them for their
time and interest and informed them of the decision of the Commission.
The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, 1979 at 7:00
P.M. and Mr. Brown said he would have a contract ready for review at
that time.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
