Old Business
Ms. Clarke asked Board Members for advice on the Auto Train exhibit. What started as a small
project with one case in the lobby has now turned into an exhibit to fill the lobby. A former
Amtrak employee suggested the title be "Apples to Oranges." A photo history of the Auto Train
was recently published. Ms. Best recommended speaking to Molly Bush Flueger, who was an
original Auto Train hostess in 1975, regarding the exhibit's design since she is an artist and
designer. The exhibit ideally would run from February to the end of the year. Mr. Carlson
volunteered to help with design.
Ms. Clarke gave an update of the status of the shovel used by President Grant at the South Florida
RR ground breaking. Ms. Clarke said it was picked up from the Maitland Historical Society and
is back on exhibit.
Board term limits were discussed briefly. The board discussed vacancies and term changes. Ms.
Clarke said she contacted the City Clerk regarding the new rule requiring Board Members be a
resident of Sanford and a Seminole County Voter and was told this is correct. Commissioner
Woodruff will look into this.
Ms. Best said her term as Chairman is ending and asked for recommendations or volunteers.
Serena Fisher, Stephen Wright, and Charlie Carlson declined. Item was tabled.

• The board has one vacancy and no candidates. Recommendations for new board members were
Bill Kirchhoff and Molly Bush Flueger.
Ms. Clarke handed out the new reprint of Leo Molloy's biography of Henry Shelton Sanford.

were printed at a cost of $.90 cents per book. The Historical Society has 100 to be given out to
dignities, officials, and guest speakers. The remainder of the books will be sold by the Society at
$5 per book.
No progress has been made on the placement of the Page Jackson Cemetery memorial due to
some confusion over ownership of the land.
New Business
Kim Nelson with the Museum of Seminole County History contacted Ms. Clarke seeking
direction on an endangered list of historic sites. Ms Nelson was directed by Seminole County to
come up with a plan for this. Charlie Carlson said he kept a book of all endangered historic sites
when he was president of the Seminole County Historical Society. Ms. Clarke asked the board for
the best way to assist without having too maintain a list. A recommendation was made to create a
form to be available for the public to fill out when a property is suggested.

for Ripley's Entertainment to ask for a speaker. Mr. Carlson said he would send Ms. Clarke the
contact information. Mr. Carlson also suggested contacting the Daytona Museum of Arts and
• Sciences for a guest speaker. Ms. Fisher asked about the Seminole County museum open house
on February 20. Ms. Clarke did not have an update on this.
