April meeting, there were no minutes.
Old Business:
Election of Officers: Christine Kinlaw Best was nominated for and elected Vice -
Chairman. Serena Fisher was nominated for and elected Secretary.
Ms. Stinecipher updated the board on the state of the building expansion project. The
Sanford Historical Society building committee is meeting with potential donors. The
city's proposed budget for 2007 includes money to repair the Museum's roof.
New Business:
i ne Museum will be fifty years old in 2007. Ms. Clarke asked for ideas for observing the
dtrtnaay. i ne Sanford Historical Society will organize events for the year. There will be

• Stinecipher has volunteered to chair a birthday committee for the Sanford Historical
Society. The committee has had one meeting. Ideas so far include asking the following
to participate: civic groups, Fort Mellon era re -enactors, local musicians and local
authors. The committee also decided to produce a booklet with the history of the
Museum.
The board discussed a student essay or art contest. It was suggested that the Sanford
Historic Trust be asked if the Museum could display the homes tour art contest winners.
Bettye Smith suggested the city song Sanford on the Lake, by Bob Carnie be performed
at the birthday party. It was performed for years by the Sanford Male Chorus and it was
adopted by the city as the official song.
Ms. Clarke suggested the contributions of the Sallie Harrison Chapter of the DAR be
recognized as part of the celebration. The DAR raised most of the money for the original
construction of the Museum. She also suggested joining the National Anthem project
during 2007 and sponsoring an anthem event. Ms. Stinecipher suggested working with
the DAR on their annual essay contest. Ms. Clarke asked for help with compiling a list
of those individuals and organizations that made a major contribution to the development
of the Museum. The list should include SunTrust Bank and the Woman's Club since
both organizations supplied storage space for the collection. Ms. Best suggested a
chronology. It has been suggested that the Museum and the Sanford Historical Society
place a special section in the Sanford Herald with a history of the Museum. A special
brochure should also be produced.
• Ms. Clarke said the Museum has been offered to the Sanford Historic Trust to use as the
homes tour headquarters.
Projects for 2007 were briefly discussed. Mrs. Fisher suggested linking up with the city's
movies in the park program for next year. It was suggested a list be compiled of famous
people from Sanford. Ms. Clarke suggested the iviuscum work ucvciop connections with
Brussels, Belgium, and Derby, Connecticut in 200.
