(FS 286.0105) PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES NEEDING ASSISTANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF THESE PROCEEDINGS SHOULD CONTACT THE PERSONNEL OFFICE ADA COORDINATOR AT 330 -5626, 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF THE MEETING. 4111 Sanford Museum Advisory Board Meeting September 10, 2002 • 5:15pm At the Museum Present: Grace Marie Stinecipher, Chairman Absent: Dr. John Morgan Commissioner Woodruff Richard Packard Jim Cara Patty Swann Janice Springfield Serena Fisher Christine Best Charlie Carlson Alicia Clarke, Curator Julie Ellenburg, Secretary Chairman Grace Marie Stinecipher called the meeting to order at 5:20pm. Minutes of March 2002 meeting approved. The Chairman asked board members for corrections and additions to the board contact list. Members gave the secretary their e-mail addresses. Notice of future meetings will be sent by e-mail when possible. The Chairman reviewed the activities planned for the City's 125 anniversary. Ms. Clarke described a Power point photo presentation and tabletop display in development for the birthday. She also noted that the Museum is the last stop on a driving tour printed in the Orlando Sentinel. The Chairman gave each member a copy of the 125 anniversary booklet published by Success in Seminole magazine. These will be distributed throughout the celebration period. There was discussion of ways to attract visitors to the Museum during the Heritage Festival. It was suggested that a tent be placed on the sidewalk in front of the Museum to draw visitors in. Ms. Stinecipher offered to borrow posters from cartoonist Billy Park. Dr. Morgan suggested locating a copy of the 1940s big band hit "The Celery Stalks at Midnight." The Chairman updated the board on the Museum's expansion project. Lake Carola is being studied in regard to its relation to the new conference center and the River walk. The City Commission has set aside $30,000 for preliminary plans for the Museum addition. The Chairman noted the terms of three board members would expire in November. They are Grace Marie Stinecipher, Charlie Carlson, and Jim Cara. Ms. Stinecipher and Mr. Carlson agreed to have their names submitted for reappointment. Mr. Cara stated that he would serve again if there were no one else available to fill his position on the board. The Chairman asked for names of potential board members. The following were suggested: Paula Cooney, Ginger Hoke, Jerry Mills, Cal Conklin and Paul Porter. • The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at which time new officers will be elected.
