March 2002 meeting approved.
The Chairman asked board members for corrections and additions to the board contact
list. Members gave the secretary their e-mail addresses. Notice of future meetings will
be sent by e-mail when possible.
The Chairman reviewed the activities planned for the City's 125 anniversary. Ms.
Clarke described a Power point photo presentation and tabletop display in development
for the birthday. She also noted that the Museum is the last stop on a driving tour printed
in the Orlando Sentinel. The Chairman gave each member a copy of the 125
anniversary booklet published by Success in Seminole magazine. These will be
distributed throughout the celebration period.
There was discussion of ways to attract visitors to the Museum during the Heritage
Festival. It was suggested that a tent be placed on the sidewalk in front of the Museum to
draw visitors in. Ms. Stinecipher offered to borrow posters from cartoonist Billy Park.
Dr. Morgan suggested locating a copy of the 1940s big band hit "The Celery Stalks at
Midnight."
The Chairman updated the board on the Museum's expansion project. Lake Carola is
being studied in regard to its relation to the new conference center and the River walk.
The City Commission has set aside $30,000 for preliminary plans for the Museum
addition.
The Chairman noted the terms of three board members would expire in November. They
are Grace Marie Stinecipher, Charlie Carlson, and Jim Cara. Ms. Stinecipher and Mr.
Carlson agreed to have their names submitted for reappointment. Mr. Cara stated that he
would serve again if there were no one else available to fill his position on the board.
The Chairman asked for names of potential board members. The following were
