motion to approve.
Alicia discussed briefly the layout and history of Museum and possible expansion of the Museum and
interest in the Sports Exhibit. A floor plan of ideas for the expansion were provided and reviewed and
discussed. Further research would be required. Serena Fisher ask Commissioner Woodruff if he would
• keep the advisory board updated on the new projects concerning the River Walk and Hotel Conference
plans and advised yes. Proposed site for Post Office Distribution warehouse would be on the airport and
the retail office possibly downtown. Commissioner Woodruff advised the advisory board that there would
be a public meeting on June 26 at City Hall.

Alicia Clarke stated some concerns with shade covering and traffic issues. Citizens appear that it is a
long walk and due to the lack of shade covering and trees they don't walk to the Chamber of Commerce
or to other events that are taking place in the park. Possible shade covering of some type would attract
more citizens from the park events to the Museum. Alicia Clarke stated that there has been an on going
concern with the traffic and speeding on west 1 Street in front of Bram Towers which is a retirement
center. There are no crosswalks or pedestrian signs.
The by laws that had been revised in 1988 were discussed, due to the change in the length of terms by
the City Commission. A change to Article II Section 2 was recommended. The suggested wording would
read "Terms of Board members shall be as stated under Section 2 of the City of Sanford Ordinance 1906.
"Members" are appointed to a three -year term and can be reappointed. Christine Best motions to
approve by laws as well as Serena Fisher, and Richard Packard.
Since September 2002 will be the city's 125 Anniversary. Ideas were discussed on possible ways to
celebrate. This included; Barbecue at Fort Mellon along with booths, re- enactors and demonstrations,
parade with bands, floats, marching units, etc. This would encourage local merchants, city
organizations, and groups to enter. Awards would be given to students for essay and /or art work.
Downtown merchants would be encouraged to decorate their windows in a historical theme with prizes to
be awarded. It has also been mentioned that a program and /or book be prepared. Through out the year
historical presentations, speakers, and city tours could be offered. Sanford Grammar School would be
celebrating its 100 birthday in 2002.
• Miss Stinecipher stated that R.T. Hillery; the City's Special Event Coordinator would be in charge of the
celebration. The board suggested that a steering committee be formed consisting of representatives from
historical groups, civics, organizations, schools, and churches. Copy of minutes from March 13, 2001 to
