SANFORD MUSEUM
ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
TUESDAY, MARCH 9, 1999

• Meeting was held at the Sanford Museum and called to order at 5:20pm by the
Chairman, Doug Stenstrom.
The minutes of the last meeting held on December 8, 1998 were approved by
the board.
Mr. Stenstrom announced that Isabel Wilson would be removed from the board
due to lack of attendance. Dr. Parker recommended Charlie Carlson II to serve
on the board and Mr. Cara seconded. Mr. Cara agreed to serve again.
The board expressed thanks to Commissioner Kerry Lyons for all his help and
dedication during the time he served as liaison to the board. The board
recommended Commissioner MacClanahan as Lyons' successor.
It was announced that the Dugout Club at the Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium
will be dedicated to Buddy Lake. The board expressed its approval. Ms Clarke
mentioned that the Sports Exhibit will contain a case containing articles
pertaining to Buddy Lake.
Ms. Clarke informed the board that the historic trees surrounding the museum
are being moved to Touhy Park.
et The board members asked to be informed when the new Chase Park Complex
is complete since there may be historic names to suggest for the fields.

Ms. Clarke told the board that the museum roof repairs are near completion.
It was suggested that the Sanford Historical Society supply a plaque for the
museum darkroom dedicating it to Don Vincent.
Mr. Stenstrom met with Phil Stalvie from Seminole County regarding the
renovation of the Page Jackson Cemetery. Ms. Clarke stated that the inventory
is complete. The gazebo at the Lakeview Cemetery is being repaired.
All capital projects for the museum are on hold pending information on the
convention center.
Mr. Cara informed board that "Stuckeys" restaurant will be demolished. Ms.
Clarke wants a photograph of it before that happens.
Museum has acquired forty books from estate sale at Mickler's Books.
• Mr. Stenstrom suggested the museum acquire, for display in the meeting room,
photographs of Andrew Carraway and Tommy Peterson.
Ms. Gormly would like more information regarding the marker and plaque at
Ft. Mellon Park that is dedicated to the Swedes. Ms. Stinecipher said she
would research this.
