SANFORD MUSEUM
ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1998

Meeting was held at the Sanford Museum and called to order at 5:17pm by the
• Chairman, Grace Stinecipher.
The minutes of the last meeting held on September 8, 1998 were read by
Chairman Grace Stinecipher. Amended the following: Under New Business,
changed 3 - -to 2 meetings. Spelling - - Mr. Kershaw. Cemetery- Historical
Society. Douglas Stenstrom moved to approve minutes as amended, Dr. Parker
seconded.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ms. Stinecipher reminded the board of their plan to dedicate the Darkroom to
Don Vincent. A plaque will be made by the Parks Department and dedication
is planned for February.
Dr. Parker invited Tom and/or Bill Vincent to become members. Doris Gormly
and Isabel Wilson have not been attending meetings.
Convention Center plans were approved since last meeting, however no
definite decision have been made in regards to the museum.
Ms. Clarke updated the board with the plans for the roof to be repaired in
December. It should be completed in two (2) weeks.

The Page Jackson Cemetery Books 1 and 2 are completed. Book 3 is near
completion. Museum staff, Michele and Julie, have done an outstanding job
collecting and organizing information on the graves. The Sanford Historical
Society needs to raise an additional $4,500 to renovate the Gazebo at the
Cemetery. Any donations are directed to the Parks Department at City Hall.
When the roof is repaired, the Sports Exhibit will be completed.
NEW BUSINESS
Gary Taylor has retrieved information on celery from the Internet. Some items
were purchased through an auction on the Internet. The Internet will be a great
source of information in future research.
George Scott brought into the museum the City seal of Mellonville. Mellonville
was incorporated in 1875. The seal is now on display.
• Karen Jacobs from the Seminole County Museum wishes to organize a joint
project in obtaining information regarding Swedish heritage of the county and
their influence.
Ms. Stinecipher updated the board of the projects of the Sanford Historical
Society.
Ms. Stinecipher announced that the board needed to appoint a new president
and vice president. She wished not to serve again. Dr. Parker nominated
Douglas Stenstrom to be president. Board unanimously approved. Richard
Packard was nominated for vice president by Mr. Stenstrom. Board
unanimously approved. Board will be inviting others to serve, as Ms. Wilson and
Ms. Gormly are not attending meetings.
A special meeting will be called if any progress on the Convention Center.
Meeting adjourned at 5:55pm.
