NOTE: The last quarterly meeting of the Sanford Museum Advisory Board for
1996 was rescheduled to this date to accommodate the introduction of new
members. Meeting dates for 1997 are as follows: January 14, March 11, June 10,
September 9, and December 9.

Present: Douglas Stenstrom, Vann Parker, Grace Marie Stinecipher, Jim
Cara, George Scott, Doris Gormly, Richard Packard, John
Morgan.
Staff : Alicia Clarke.
The Chairman, Douglas Stenstrom, called the meeting to order at 5:20 pm.
New members Grace Marie Stinecipher and Jim Cara were introduced.
Ms Clarke announced that the museum's phone number had changed. She also
passed out an updated list of of board members.

The board discussed the Sports Hall of Fame exhibit. The Chairman asked for
an update on the status of the installation of the exhibit. Ms. Clarke explained

E- that the exhibit could not be installed until the leaking roof in the exhibit area
was repaired. The members were concerned that this problem has existed for a
year and has not been solved. The Chairman stated he would call the City
411 Manager to express the board's concern over this ongoing problem.
Ms. Clarke announced that the Sanford Historical Society would be planting a
tree for Arbor Day on January 17 and that the board was invited to attend.
s. Clarke requested the members advice on the design of a street sign for the
/ (n/ museum. A discussion followed. Jim Cara and George Scott offered to help
collect information from sign firms. Members suggested that the museum's
hours be included on the sign and that lettering be permanent to deter vandals.
Ms. Stinecipher offered to find out the status of First Baptist Church's sign which
was not reused with their new building.
Ms. Clarke asked the members for advice on refinishing the museum's front
doors. Mr. Scott suggested talking to Cal Jardine, a retired woodworker.
Ms. Clarke distributed copies of the register of the Henry S. Sanford Papers.
She asked the members to think of places to send copies of the register since
the museum has about 500 copies to distribute.
Mr. Stenstrom asked for nominees for Chairman for 1997. Doris Gormly was
nominated and unanimously elected.
